BJP national president Shri Rajnath Singh while addressing mediapersons in Jammu on October 22, said General Pervez Musharraf should be reminded of his promise which he made to India in January 2004.
?During the NDA rule BJP had scored a big diplomatic success over Pakistan but Prime Minister Manmohan Singh'sstatement that Pakistan is also a victim of terrorism brought the situation back to square one,? he said. Shri Singh was in Jammu in connection with observance of 124th death anniversary of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra, the founder of Jammu-Kashmir Praja Parishad.
Training his guns on PDP, major partner of the ruling alliance in the state, he expressed his opposition to the demand for demilitarisation, self-rule and greater autonomy in strife-torn Jammu & Kashmir being raised from some political corners. ?What is the fun of raising such a demand when people of J&K fully exercise their right to franchise and elect the Government?, he added.
On demilitarisation he said, ?It should not happen. Northern Command Chief had recently said that Jammu & Kashmir requires five to ten times more forces compared to the existing strength in the state so as to effectively tackle militancy.? He also castigated PDP for endorsing a proposal of Pakistan to have joint Indo-Pak management besides sharing natural resources of the state.
Expressing concern over denial of citizenship rights to West Pak refugees, he declared that if the BJP comes to power at the Centre it would solve their demand on priority. He also criticised the Congress-led UPA for creating a controversy on Ram Sethu.
Addressing the rally, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and incharge of J&K BJP, Shri Shanta Kumar paid rich tribute to Pt. Prem Nath Dogra saying he always lived for others. He alleged that wrong policies of the UPA Government coupled with increasing corruption was the main reason for rising prices.
BJP national general secretary (organisation), Shri Ram Lal alleged that in 50 years of Congress rule the casteism, regionalism and price hike have rocked the nation. He accused the Congress for misleading the people of Jammu region on emotive issues in last elections to seek their votes and later backtracked from the promises.
BJP State president Shri Ashok Khajuria, while lambasting the state coalition Government said its policies are taking J&K away from national mainstream. Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, while paying tribute to Prem Nath Dogra and other martyrs said today there are no better conditions in J&K that prevailed during the 1952 movement of Praja Parishad.
On the occasion, BJP also felicitated the stalwarts of Praja Parishad movement including Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, Capt. (retd.) Dewan Singh, Shri Daya Krishan Kotwal, Shri Sehdev Singh, Shri Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Ch. Chagar Singh and Shri Bhagwat Swaroop.
