Hundreds of Swadeshi Jagran Manch activists and retail traders of Jamshedpur took out a protest march from Jangali Sabzi Mandi to Jhanda Chowk to protest the entry of big companies in retail trade on September 7. The agitators also burnt an effigy of Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda. Shouting the slogans against Reliance Fresh and Vishal Megamart the demonstrators demanded immediate closer of showrooms of the big companies and also scrapping of their licence. After burning the effigy, the demonstrators decided to gherao the local people'srepresentatives and to continue their struggle. They also staged a dharna on September 6 in which a large number of retail traders participated. Shri Bande Shankar Singh, state convener of Swadeshi Jagran Manch addressed the agitators. (FOC)
