On the 131st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, four books authored by him were released by the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri LK Advani. Former Union Minister and Working Chairperson of Sardar Patel Society, Shri KC Pant presided over the release function organised by Prabhat Prakashan, New Delhi on October 31, 2006 at National Museum Auditorium, New Delhi. The function was graced by the presence of eminent politicians, writers, journalists, intellectuals and personalities from all walks of life.
The books, published in Hindi by Prabhat Prakashan and edited by the late Dr PN Chopra and Dr Prabha Chopra bring to light the important and pivotal role played by Sardar Patel while handling the sensitive issue of Kashmir and the difficulties faced while integrating various states. These also highlight the fact that contrary to general perceptions Sardar Patel was not at loggerheads with the three stalwarts of the Congress?Gandhi, Nehru and Subhas Bose. They also establish that it would be erroneous to believe that Sardar Patel was anti-Muslim and had bitterness towards them. He tried to take every possible step to bring Hindus and Muslims closer. They also give a glimpse of the vast and objective economic and foreign policy of India, which Sardar Patel had in his mind for the independent India.
