The Islamic terrorist organisation, National Development Front (NDF) involved in several acts of terrorism to its credit like murder of RSS cadres, bomb explosions in Kozhikode bus-stop, torching of Tamil Nadu state buses, explosion of boat in Beypore and not to forget, the barbaric and savage butchering of eight Hindu fishermen in Marad in 2003, is diversifying its area of operation to publishing of extremist magazines, indulging in campus politics and post-graduation to the high-tech ?Letter Bomb?!

As a threat to the CPM led SFI and ABVP, ?Campus-Front? the students organisation of NDF has started operation in most colleges of Kerala. In Muslim majority areas, its strength is comparatively very substantial. Clashes between SFI and Campus-Front (CF) have erupted in colleges where SFI does not allow any other student organisation to function. Recently in the University College at Thiruvananthapuram, a red stranglehold, a ?CF? activist was beaten blue and black for trying to organise a meeting of CF at the Campus. Nahas, the injured Islamic History student is still in hospital.

In addition leading newspapers like ?Madhyamam? and ?Thejus? being run by Jamaat-e-Islami and Mujahids, there are almost 30 weeklies and monthlies published from Kozhikode, majority being run by the NDF and other extremist groups like Sunni factions including Kanthapuram Musaliar, Mujahid and Jamaat-e-Islami.

Finally at Thiruvananthapuram, the day President A.P.J. Kalam was on a day'svisit, ?Letter Bombs? were detected at two major post offices of Manacaud and Kesavadasapuram and the one at Manacaud went off, when the suspicious postman was trying to segregate it. Investigations revealed that they were assembled in a very high-tech manner, and if aluminium powder was replaced with ?RDX? the impact would have been catastrophic. Investigations led to the arrest of Mohasin, a student of Fire Engineering, a computer wizard and an activist of the NDF. According to police Mohasin had sent the Letter Bomb to Vasu, who had refused to get converted to Islam. The Letter Bomb was sent to other locations to divert police attention. Mohasin and his brother Muneer who are also activists of Campus Front had sent letters to the Principal of the Govt. Homoeo College at Thiruvananthapuram threatening to bomb the college, since he did allow ?CF? to function there. Also threatening letters with Islamic wordings of seditious, anti-national and Islamic terrorist nature were sent to several persons staying in the vicinity of Mohasin'shouse. More dangerous, the police who raided Mohasin'shouse seized a 0.27 Bullet, normally used in a Belgium made Winchester?type rifle. Police suspect that this was supplied by LeT or ISI for training purposes. Also two letter bombs were defused in the University Campus Post Office in Kariavattom, a day after the arrest of Mohasin, possibly to protest against his arrest.

The timing of the letter bomb explosion, i.e. on the day of Kalam'sarrival is seen by IB as an attempt to display NDF'spower. Over the years Kerala has seen many types of bombs being used by Islamic terrorists. Country bombs, steel bombs in steel vessels including lunch boxes, bombs assembled in PVC pipes of which hundreds were found near Kadalundi bridge near Kozhikode in 1996, Cigarette bombs which were used to destroy cinema theater since they considered it anti-Islam, bombs in Pepsi-Cans which were used in Marad, pen bombs and the torch light bomb which exploded in Nadapuram. Now hold your breath, police say the Islamic terrorists are on the verge of making a ?Mobile Phone Bomb?!

Anyway, Kerala has entered Frederick Forsyth'slatest best-seller ?The Afghan? as a fundamentalist Islam territory. What Forsyth was able to find out, our ruling LDF and Congress led UDF are failing to realise, since they are more concerned with vote banks.
