The Congress goons have desecrated and removed the statue of Pujniya Doctorji Shri Hedgewar. Emboldened by the fact that it is the Congress Raj at the local bodies, the state and the Centre, the political thugs made this second attack on the statue of Dr Hedgewar on the night of November 24.
The statue had been installed at A-1 park in Keshavpuram in West Delhi 15 years ago. They not only destroyed the statue but also removed the remains overnight. The local administration could not arrest the culprits even two days after the incident. The reasons are obvious. No Congress leader has so far reacted to the incident, which agitated the local people who have strongly protested the inaction of the administration. They have demanded the immediate restoration of the statue.
The Delhi administration had renamed the Lawrence Road area as Keshavpuram. Dr Hedgewar'sstatue was installed in the park of the local Community Centre on March 27, 1990. The statue was unveiled by the then Lt. Governor of Delhi, Air Marshal (retd.) Arjan Singh.
An attempt had been made to destroy the statue in July this year and a F.I.R. had been registered at the local police station. However, the culprits have not even been identified. After this attack, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) had covered it with an iron railing, which could be locked from outside.
Condemning the incident, RSS Delhi Prant Sanghachalak, Shri Satyanarain Bansal said that statues of great personalities installed at public places did not belong to any particular community, but were treasures for the whole society and their protection and honour was the duty of every citizen of the country. ?If the administration fails to keep an eye on the destroyer of the statues, it would become difficult to protect the statues of various eminent leaders installed at other places,? he added.
Meanwhile a high level delegation of distinguished people of Delhi, led by Shri Bansal, met the Police Commissioner and apprised him of the sentiments of Delhiites and presented him a memorandum. The delegation included Shri Vijay Kumar, Delhi Prant Karyavah, Shri Omprakash Singhal, president, Indraprastha Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Shri Mangeram Garg, president, Dharmyatara Mahasangh and Shri Subhash Arya, leader of opposition in MCD.
On November 26, over two thousand people sat on dharna at the park to register their protest against the demolition of the statue. They demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and also the restoration of the statue at the same place. The local deputy Commissioner of MCD reportedly assured the agitators that the statue would be restored soon and the local Assistant Commissioner of Police Shri Mangesh Kashyap assured to take efforts to arrest the culprits.
