Dr Pravin Togadia, general secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), has urged all political parties, state governments as well as the Central Government to clarify their stand on the issue of population control. He asked them to clear their stand on the Swadeshi concept also. Expressing concern over the burgeoning population of Muslims in the country, he said the VHP would soon make people aware of the menace of the growing population of Muslims. He warned if the government did not take any concrete steps to control the Muslims? population, the VHP would think of initiating the ?ashthaputra campaign, when blessing were given to new brides after marriage in the ancient period. He said that the poverty could not be eliminated if the Hindus continued to adopt the method of ?we two, ours two? while Muslims let their population grow uncontrolled. ?If this trend continues, Hindus will become a minority after the year 2051. The VHP will cooperate with the government if it bans government jobs for persons having more than two children. But we want to make it clear if the government helps the designs of making the country Dar-ul-Islam, the Hindu society will adopt the ashthaputra tradition,? he emphasised.
