Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has accused a drug racket in Hyderabad’s Old City of targeting minor Hindu girls through drugs, kidnapping, rape, and blackmail. Speaking to the media on November 9 at the BJP state office alongside party leaders and parents of victims, the minister alleged political collusion between Congress and AIMIM, as well as police negligence, describing the issue as a serious threat to society that could spread beyond old city.
Bandi Sanjay detailed the modus operandi, claiming the racket targets minor Hindu girls, particularly those aged 14–16, in Old City areas, primarily at schools and colleges attended predominantly by Hindu students.
He said Hindu girls were invited to birthday parties, given chocolates laced with drugs, and gradually made dependent. He compared the incidents to scenes from the film Kerala Files.
“They are habituating them to drugs, kidnapping them and committing rapes,” he said, alleging that “the MIM is backing the drug racket.” He questioned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who oversees the Home Department: “If you so much as twitch, the intelligence apparatus delivers information to you, doesn’t it? Why are you acting as if you do not see all this happening? Is your intelligence being used to control political leaders and parties?”

He cited the case of a 16-year-old girl from a poor Bengali family that migrated to Hyderabad two decades ago. On 26 October 2025, she was allegedly abducted at night by a drug gang led by Adil alias Aziz while her parents slept. The next morning, her parents reported her missing to nearby police, who dismissed them, saying, “It was the other day, wasn’t it… now she will come back.” Only after BJP Goshamahal president Uma Mahender threatened a habeas corpus petition was the girl released near the police station, with threats from the gang: “If anyone speaks we will kill your parents.” The police closed the case without investigation, stating, “Your child has been found.”
The girl, habituated to drugs, now behaves erratically, throwing objects and acting wildly. She revealed that Adil and his associates recorded videos and naked pictures during assaults, using them to blackmail her and others into compliance. On 6 November 2025, as her parents took her to hospital due to her poor health, Adil intercepted and forcibly took her away on a scooter. An FIR (No. 192/2025) was filed at Charminar Police Station under IPC Section 137(2), but Adil’s name was omitted, and no investigation into the drug use or rape followed. The girl is now in a rehabilitation centre.
Bandi Sanjay alleged that many Hindu minor girls are trapped, blackmailed into returning to the gang or bringing other girls under threats of video leaks or murder. He claimed police negligence is rampant: “Even though cases are filed, Old city police are not taking notice. Without conducting investigations, they are colluding with the drug gang.”
He added that when arrests occur, “local MIM leaders come to the station and take that gang member away,” advising parents, “It is your girl’s mistake… keep her under control.” One officer reportedly said, “All this is common.”
The minister accused the Congress government of bowing to Asaduddin Owais lead AIMIM for votes, claiming police postings in the Old City are influenced by their directives. “For votes and political needs, this government is bowing to the MIM. With Majlis backing, the police are not performing duty and are taking money,” he said. He warned: “If Old city is allowed to be written off… ultimately there is a danger that the drug racket will spread to your home, our home.”
Bandi Sanjay demanded immediate action: “Enter the field immediately. Root out the drug racket. Post capable police in old city so that Majlis supporters have no foothold. Do not yield to anyone’s pressure. Uncover the masterminds behind the drug racket.”
He threatened that if the government fails to act, “the BJP will step in. The BJP itself will organise thousands of Hindu protection squads in Old City and maintain vigil.” He added, “If necessary I myself will personally take charge in Old city. We will protect Hindus and their children.” He warned that if the CM does not respond, “central forces will have to be deployed in Old city under the law,” holding the state government responsible for any law and order issues.
The minister spoke alongside BJP state vice-president Payal Shankar, MLC Anji Reddy, MLA Palvai Harish, and state chief spokesperson N.V. Subhash, among others, urging the Hindu community in Telangana to awaken to the crisis.
