Victorious candidates of ABVP in DUSU College Elections
NEW DELHI: Alongside the Delhi University Students’ Union elections, ABVP has won several college students’ union elections held today. At Aditi Mahavidyalaya, ABVP secured victory on all posts, recording a clean sweep. The ABVP panel recorded a 6-0 clean sweep at Sri Aurobindo College (Morning), won all 8 posts at Bharati College, and registered a 6-0 clean sweep at Shivaji College. At Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, ABVP won all four posts. At Keshav Mahavidyalaya, ABVP candidates won the three key posts of President, Vice President and Secretary by substantial margins. At Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, ABVP candidates won the posts of President and Secretary along with both Central Councillor posts. At Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), ABVP candidates won all posts, including President, Secretary and both Councillor posts. At the Department of Library Sciences, ABVP candidates also won the posts of President and Minister along with both Central Councillor posts.
Following this broad support from students in the college elections, ABVP is confident of receiving students’ support for the central panel of DUSU as well. Students have voted in favour of ABVP candidates Yash Dabas for President, Eshu Maurya for Vice President, Riya Chhabri for Secretary, and Lakshyaraj Singh for Joint Secretary. ABVP is confident that, just as it received support in the college elections, students will also express their confidence in the complete ABVP panel in DUSU, and the results will emerge as a 4-0 clean sweep.
During polling, allegations have also emerged against persons associated with NSUI for attempting to influence the electoral process. At Dyal Singh College, two persons were handed over to the police for distributing pamphlets carrying incorrect details about ABVP’s name and panel, while an individual had also been handed over to the police earlier in a similar matter. Meanwhile, at LC-2 (Morning), a female student who arrived at the polling station with a fake ID card was caught by security personnel, while two other female students left the spot. ABVP has demanded a fair investigation into these cases and action as per rules against those found guilty. The organisation has instructed all its candidates and workers to ensure 100 per cent compliance with all directions issued by the Delhi High Court and the rules prescribed by the university.
ABVP Delhi State Secretary Sarthak Sharma said, “The DUSU election is not an election for Rahul Gandhi’s President’s seat; it is a democratic election of the students of Delhi University, and the students here will decide its outcome. The entire political machinery of Congress, along with IYC and NSUI, made every possible attempt to influence the election, but the students of Delhi University make their decisions based on their own judgment. ABVP received broad support from students in the college elections, and we will receive students’ support in the DUSU election as well. The cases involving fake ID cards and misleading pamphlets that have come to light in connection with people associated with NSUI should be impartially investigated, and action as per rules should be taken against those found guilty. ABVP welcomes all directions issued by the Delhi High Court regarding the election process, including the prohibition on victory processions. The organisation has instructed all workers to ensure 100 per cent compliance with the court’s directions. We are fully confident that the support of students in DUSU will emerge in favour of ABVP as a 4-0 clean sweep.”
