Telangana Bajrang Dal warns of ‘serious consequences’ over non-Hindu participation in Dandiya events

Telangana Bajrang Dal Convener Konda Srikanth has called on Dandiya organisers to verify participants’ identities and appoint only Hindu bouncers, alleging that Hindu girls and women are being targeted at Navratri events.

Telangana State Bajrang Dal Convener Konda Srikanth has warned that there would be serious consequences if people belonging to Islam and other religions participate in Dandiya programmes organised as part of the grand Navratri Dasara celebrations.

Speaking at a media conference on October 7 in Bhagyanagar, Srikanth alleged that people participating in Dandiya programmes were changing their Aadhaar details and falsely claiming to be Hindus, while allegedly misleading Hindu girls and women, luring them in the name of love and involving them in anti-social activities.

He recalled that, as stated in Islamic religious scriptures, Hindus are referred to as Kafirs and that befriending them, worshipping their deities and consuming food offered by them are considered contrary to Islam. He questioned why those who preach such principles were participating in programmes organised by Hindus. “What is their target?” he asked.

He advised those who were so keen on participating in Hindu programmes to first bring their brothers and sisters to the event. He said Hindu youths would also participate in Dandiya dances with them. If they could not do so, he said they could return to Hinduism through Ghar Wapsi and participate in the programme without any objection.

Srikanth also advised organisers of Dandiya programmes to thoroughly verify the Aadhaar cards of those entering the events and also take their attire and appearance into consideration. If they found that any participant was not a Hindu, he asked them to immediately inform the police or Bajrang Dal activists.

He further said that organisers should ensure that only Hindus were deployed as bouncers for security at the events. He warned that if non-Hindus were appointed as bouncers, the Bajrang Dal would definitely obstruct the conduct of the programme.

Central Mandir Prabandh Samiti member Moosapet Rama Raju said that during Durga Navratri, devotees worship the Goddess with great grandeur and devotion, making the celebrations a visual spectacle. Alongside this, he said, Dandiya and Garba programmes are also being organised on a grand scale at several places.

However, he alleged that people belonging to other religions were illegally entering such programmes after changing their names in Aadhaar cards to indicate that they were Hindus and making changes to their attire and appearance to resemble Hindus.

He alleged that such individuals were participating in the programmes and targeting Hindu women and girls, thereby subjecting them to “Love Jihad”. He warned that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad would never tolerate such acts.

Bhagyalakshmi Vibhag Bajrang Dal Convener Akhil, and other prominent members were also present.
