RSS@100 event in London: Dr Mohan Bhagwat answers from Hindutva to Youth to Loyalty to Britain

In a wide-ranging question-and-answer session at “Celebrating Oneness” in London, RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat addressed some of the most debated and, in his view, least understood ideas associated with the Sangh and Hindu civilisation—from shuddh saatvik prem and the Hindu approach to diversity to the deeper meaning of Hindutva and Rashtra

LONDON: Defining the philosophical core of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its civilisational vision, RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat has articulated an expansive, pluralistic framework centered on universal oneness and mutual respect while interacting with the audience in London during a question answer session on September 6, 2026

What is one element of RSS that has withstood the test of time?

“Shuudh Saatvik Prem” – that is the basis of RSS work. Apanapan i.e. shuddha satvik love for everybody, the traditional nature of Hindus. Hindu’s not only worship but love nature. That is the traditional nature of a Hindu.

What does Hindu civilisation bring to world that is essential amongst what feels like very turbulent times?

All Hindu thoughts are based on single thing. Existence is rarely one. It appears to be diverse. Diversities are natural so we have to respect them and accept them. One has become many and therefore nany are respected.

Hindu Rashtra and Hindutva are most discussed and least understood phrase in our vocabulary. Would you give this audience the version you would want us to carry home, the one we can repeat in our workplaces, to our neighbours, to our children?

Live, Let live, make others live. The word Hindu we cannot understand on the basis of religious practice. HINDU is a nature. Hindu cannot be understood by religion or just way of life, but a view that believes that all diversities should be accepted and respected as they lead to the same God.

When we say Hindu is not religion. There may be Hindu religions. Hindu religions say all other religions are also true. From.atheist to.polytheists – from Bharat varsha all kind of thought came out.

Nation is not the translation of word Rashtra. Nation means nation-state. People come.together because they have some similarities- language, model of governance or religion. And to stay together they have certain rules. And they strive for their common goals. Human Beings cannot survive alone.

Rashtra is not that. For Rashtra, first there is a purpose. What is the purpose of Hindu Rashtra? To give this truth to the world that diversity is natural and unity is truth. This benefits the world.

For Dr Mohan Bhagwat, the ability to recognise, respect and live with diversity while seeing an underlying unity is not merely an idea from the past, but a civilisational principle that can offer an alternative way of navigating the turbulence of the present.
