The first week of June 2026 witnessed a wide spectrum of incidents across India and Bangladesh involving allegations of targeted violence, religious tension, conversion-linked disputes, and attacks on places of worship. Reports emerged from multiple states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, West Bengal, Gujarat, Assam, and Uttarakhand, alongside several disturbing developments from Bangladesh where minority Hindu communities were affected in cases of violence, intimidation, and social unrest.

A significant number of cases involved allegations of coercion, exploitation, and deception in interpersonal relationships, often accompanied by accusations of forced conversion or pressure to abandon religious identity. Parallelly, several incidents related to desecration of temples, online hate content, and community-level clashes further contributed to heightened tensions in different regions.

Authorities in multiple states responded with arrests, FIR registrations, and ongoing investigations, while several matters remain under inquiry or complaint stage. The overall pattern reflects a week marked by repeated communal flashpoints, legal interventions, and continuing disputes over religious practices and social cohesion in sensitive regions.

The detailed incidents from June 1 to June 7, 2026, are given below.

June 1, 2026

1. Muslim Tutor Arrested in North West Delhi for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor Students

A 35-year-old tuition teacher, Mohammed Imran, has been arrested by the Ashok Vihar police in North West Delhi following allegations of selectively targeting and sexually assaulting multiple minor Hindu female students. According to police records and community statements, the matter involves an estimated 20 minor female victims from the local Hindu community who reportedly faced inappropriate behaviour and harassment while enrolled at the tutor’s coaching centre.

The matter came to light on 1 June 2026, when a Class 12 student disclosed to her parents that the tutor had called her to the centre under the pretext of clearing academic doubts and subsequently groped her. Following a complaint by the family, the Ashok Vihar police registered the initial First Information Report (FIR) and apprehended the accused. Subsequently, on 9 June 2026, two more survivors came forward to record formal statements detailing instances of inappropriate touching during regular class sessions, leading the police to register two additional separate FIRs.

During subsequent community meetings, local residents and parents shared that numerous other female students had abruptly quit the centre within short periods of enrolling due to the tutor’s behaviour, though several families opted not to lodge official complaints to avoid legal complications and public scrutiny. Investigating officials confirmed that all the survivors who filed formal FIRs belong to the Hindu community. Following these developments, the commercial coaching centre was entirely dismantled and vacated from the building premises. Furthermore, the Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation has approached the National Human Rights Commission to request a comprehensive scrutiny of the matter while organising counselling sessions for the affected minor victims. The accused remains in judicial custody as the police investigation continues.

2. Minor Hindu Girl Reported Missing in Bangladesh

A 12-year-old Hindu girl, Nirupama Shikdar, was reported missing from the Purba Aliyabad area of Faridpur Sadar Upazila in Bangladesh. According to her family, she left home around 8 AM on 1 June 2026 without informing anyone and did not return. Despite extensive searches by family members at relatives’ homes and other locations, no trace of her was found.

Nirupama, the only daughter of Nirmal Shikdar and Smriti Shikdar, did not use a mobile phone. A General Diary (GD No. 74) was lodged at Faridpur Kotwali Police Station on 1 June 2026. Her family appealed to the public for any information regarding her whereabouts, while the police stated that legal procedures had been initiated and efforts to trace the missing girl were ongoing.

3. Complaint Filed Over Conversion by Christian Missionaries Targeting Economically Vulnerable Hindus in Delhi

A complaint was filed with the Delhi Police after economically vulnerable Hindu residents in the Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi were allegedly encouraged to attend Christian prayer meetings and faith-healing sessions through claims of miraculous healing. Pamphlets distributed in the locality urged recipients to accept Jesus and directed them to a Christian centre in West Patel Nagar.

During an inquiry, residents alleged that a woman identified as Pramila Devi distributed the pamphlets and invited people to attend the gatherings. One local woman stated that two individuals associated with the church invited around 10 to 15 residents to Sunday prayer meetings, though she alone attended. Another resident, Sanjay, stated that after attending the centre, a pastor placed his hand on his forehead, assured him of healing, and he witnessed others lying on the ground during the session before doing the same himself.

The pamphlets included a pre-written declaration accepting Jesus as a saviour and promised relief from illness and personal hardships through faith. Based on the collected pamphlets and recorded statements, Sewa Nyaya submitted a formal complaint to the Delhi Police seeking an investigation into the activities at the West Patel Nagar centre and the distribution of the material among residents of the Punjabi Bagh jhuggi colony.

4. Hindu Minor Girl Raped, Filmed and Pressured to Convert to Islam in Bhopal

In Bhopal, a Hindu minor schoolgirl was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual violence and pressure to convert to Islam. The case led to criminal proceedings against Ausaf Khan and Maaz, and police later filed a challan before the court.

According to the case details, the victim came into contact with Ausaf Khan through Maaz. On 5 July 2025, Ausaf allegedly contacted her, proposed a relationship, and prevented her from leaving his vehicle. The victim said she was then raped inside the car while Maaz recorded the incident on video.

Investigation records stated that the victim was raped six times in three different vehicles. The case file also said she was repeatedly threatened with the circulation of the video and was pressured to convert to Islam and adopt Islamic practices, including wearing a burqa.

Police completed the investigation and filed the challan against both accused. The case records also noted that a head constable was suspended after findings linked police-related information being passed outside official channels.

5. Hindu Temple Desecrated, Idols of Shiva, Parvati and Ganesha Vandalised in Bihar

A Hindu temple on the banks of the Lalbakeya River in the Bairgania area of Sitamarhi district, Bihar, was found vandalised after idols of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha were damaged inside the shrine. The incident came to light when devotees arrived at the temple and discovered the desecrated idols, triggering concern among local residents.

The damaged idols were central to the temple’s worship practices, and news of the vandalism drew devotees and villagers to the site. Police from Bairgania Police Station reached the temple, secured the premises, inspected the scene and initiated an investigation. Authorities stated that efforts were underway to identify those responsible and that legal action would be taken once the perpetrators were traced.

6. Muslim Men Posing as Hindu Sadhus Detained for Exploiting Devotees in Uttarakhand

Forty Muslim men were detained during Uttarakhand Police’s Operation Kalnemi in the Kaliyar area of Roorkee, Haridwar district, for allegedly posing as Hindu sadhus and babas to mislead and exploit Hindu devotees. Among those identified were Akbar, Wasim and Shakeel. Police also initiated an inquiry into the possible Bangladeshi background of some of the detainees.

According to the police, the men dressed in saffron robes and presented themselves as Hindu saints, tantriks and astrologers, offering to resolve personal, financial, health and family-related problems through rituals and spiritual remedies. Women and young Hindus were allegedly among those primarily targeted and persuaded to spend money on rituals, blessings, talismans and astrological consultations.

All 40 men were taken into custody for verification of their identities, backgrounds and activities. The investigation remains ongoing as part of Operation Kalnemi, launched by the Uttarakhand Police to identify individuals allegedly disguising themselves as Hindu religious figures to exploit devotees.

7. Hindu Women Barred from Observing Vat Purnima at Mahatma Phule Wada by Maharashtra Archaeology Department

Hindu women were barred from observing the Vat Purnima festival at the historic Mahatma Phule Wada in Ganj Peth, Pune, after the Maharashtra Archaeology Department prohibited the ritual at the site. The order sought police deployment until 29 June 2026 to prevent any religious programme at the banyan tree, where married Hindu women had traditionally performed prayers and tied sacred threads as part of the festival.

The Maharashtra Archaeology Department cited its interpretation of the legacy of Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule, along with provisions of the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Rules, 1962, to justify the restriction. The decision was challenged through a legal objection filed on behalf of women devotees and other citizens, who contended that the ban was imposed without consultation and without any archaeological or scientific evidence showing that the rituals caused damage to the protected monument.

The petition sought withdrawal of the order, permission for the peaceful observance of Vat Purnima at the site, and safeguards against similar restrictions on traditional religious practices in the future. The matter remains sub judice.

8. Yali Vahana Procession Abruptly Cancelled, Shocking Hindu Devotees at Kanchipuram Temple in Tamil Nadu

Devotees at the Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram were left shocked after the traditional Yali Vahana procession was abruptly cancelled during the annual Vaikasi Brahmotsavam festival. The cancellation came a day after the Naga Vahana procession was also called off, leading to concern among Hindu devotees over repeated disruptions to the temple’s annual celebrations.

The Yali Vahana procession commenced after the deity was adorned and mounted on the vahanam in accordance with temple tradition. However, after reaching Sannadhi Street, temple authorities announced its cancellation and returned the deity to the Vahana Mandapam, leaving devotees who had gathered in large numbers disappointed.

The repeated cancellation of two major processions prompted criticism from devotees, who questioned the disruption of long-standing temple traditions. Allegations later surfaced on social media claiming that officials of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department informed devotees that the Yali Vahana procession had been cancelled on the instructions of HR&CE Minister Ramesh. 9. Hindu Temple Land Encroached, Priest’s Family Assaulted for Opposing Encroachment in Rajasthan

Members of the Vaishnav community submitted a memorandum to the Additional District Collector, alleging that priests who resisted the occupation of temple land were subjected to threats, intimidation and violence.

The memorandum highlighted the case of the Gopalji Temple in Sapunda village, where land belonging to the temple was allegedly encroached upon. On 2 June 2026, members of the priest’s family, including women, were allegedly assaulted after opposing the encroachment. A complaint was subsequently lodged at Sarwad Police Station.

The Vaishnav community also alleged that priests protecting temple properties had received death threats and that women from priest families had faced misbehaviour. The memorandum sought a survey of temple lands, removal of encroachments, legal action against those responsible and security for affected priest families.

10. Muslim Men Arrested for Illegal Cow Slaughter in Mhow, Outraging Hindu Sentiments

Hindu sentiments were outraged after multiple cows were allegedly slaughtered by a group of Muslim men led by Imran Khatkhat in Banda Basti, Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, during Bakrid. Following information about the incident, local members of Bajrang Dal reached the spot, after which the accused fled. Police launched an investigation and arrested several individuals, while Imran Khatkhat remained absconding.

On 2 June 2026, police traced Imran Khatkhat near Choral Dam. He allegedly attempted to evade arrest by fleeing and jumping from a culvert, sustaining injuries to both legs. He was taken to hospital for treatment before being formally arrested.

Police stated that Imran Khatkhat was wanted in connection with the alleged slaughter of multiple cows and carried a reward of Rs 5,000. He was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. A case was registered against him under the Madhya Pradesh Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act, 2004, and the Arms Act. The investigation into the alleged cow-slaughter network remained ongoing.

11. Hindu Minor Girl Dies by Suicide After Harassment by Muslim Youth, Protests Erupt in Telangana

A Hindu minor girl died by suicide in Narayanpet, Telangana, following alleged prolonged harassment by an 18-year-old Muslim youth identified as Fasiuddin. Before her death, the girl left a suicide note naming Fasiuddin and referring to the harassment she had endured.

The incident came to public attention on 2 June 2026, triggering protests by Hindu organisations and community members, who demanded justice and a thorough investigation. BJP leaders also raised concerns alleging that the accused had gained the girl’s trust by promising marriage, pressured her to convert to Islam and marry according to Muslim customs, and subjected her to blackmail.

Police registered a case against Fasiuddin under provisions relating to abetment of suicide and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He was arrested, produced before a court, and remanded to judicial custody. The investigation into the allegations, including the contents of the suicide note and claims of harassment and blackmail, remained ongoing.

12. Hindu Women Across West Bengal Targeted by Muslim Man Using False Hindu Matrimony Profile

At least 15 Hindu women across multiple districts of West Bengal were targeted, defrauded and sexually exploited by Moniur Rahman, a Muslim man from Kolkata, who allegedly created a profile on a matrimony website under the false Hindu name “Manik Roy.” He presented himself as a senior automobile company executive with an annual salary of Rs 1.5 crore to gain the trust of Hindu women seeking marriage.

According to the investigation, Moniur allegedly cultivated relationships with the women over several months before extracting cash and jewellery on various pretexts, including fabricated family emergencies. Police said he also impersonated his own father during phone calls with victims’ families to strengthen the deception before disappearing after obtaining money and valuables.

The case came to light after a Hindu woman from Naihati uncovered inconsistencies in his claims, contacted other women through social media, and identified a similar pattern of alleged deception. She then informed the police and invited him to her residence, where he was arrested. Police registered charges of fraud, rape and financial embezzlement, and stated that around 15 women had allegedly been targeted through the same modus operandi.

13. Hindu Woman Alleges Rape, Forced Conversion and Nikah at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah

A 35-year-old Hindu woman from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, alleged that she was raped, blackmailed, forcibly converted to Islam, subjected to nikah at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, and financially exploited by Shahid Mansouri and his family. The woman approached SP Sagar Rana, following which a case was registered at Pratapnagar Police Station. Shahid Mansouri was arrested, while police continued to search for his brother, Zafar.

According to the complaint, Shahid Mansouri obtained the woman’s mobile number through her sister, lured her to a resort in Bhilwara on the pretext of offering a job, and allegedly raped her while recording objectionable photos and videos. The woman alleged that he threatened to circulate the material and harm her parents before taking her to Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi, where she was allegedly forced to recite the Kalma and Quranic verses, converted to Islam, and made to undergo nikah.

The woman further alleged that Shahid’s brother Zafar also raped her, while Shahid’s family forced her to offer namaz, observe roza, read the Quran and consume non-vegetarian food despite her objections. She also alleged that the accused transferred around Rs 20 lakh from her bank account, took her jewellery, and obtained a loan of Rs 80 lakh in her name through blackmail.

Police registered a case under charges including rape, blackmail and the Rajasthan Prohibition of Religious Conversion Act. Shahid Mansouri was arrested and remanded to custody, while the investigation remained ongoing.

14. Hindu tribal communities in Rajasthan subjected to alleged organised conversion activities across multiple villages

Hindu tribal communities across several villages in Rajasthan’s Sirohi district were allegedly targeted through organised conversion activities involving inducements and misleading propaganda. The issue came to light after Ekal Abhiyan Anchal Sirohi submitted a memorandum to the District Collector seeking immediate action against the alleged conversion operations and increased administrative surveillance in the affected areas.

The memorandum identified several villages and localities across Shivganj, Pindwara, Abu Road and Rewdar tehsils, including Kaldari, Thandi Beri, Chitriya Fali, Muri, Kudal, Sabela, Moras, Isra Rural, Kui, Khara, Bhainsa Singh, Amba, Pipar Bhat, Bordhani, Dairy, Jaloiya Fali, Mata Fali, Khejda and Karoti, as areas where such activities were allegedly taking place.

The organisation alleged that missionaries and anti-religion elements were targeting Adivasi Hindu families through inducements and misleading propaganda. It demanded identification of those involved, strict legal action, and sustained monitoring of sensitive rural areas. The memorandum also warned of an indefinite sit-in protest from 6 July if no action was taken.

No individual accused has been identified in the available information. The matter was raised before the district administration through a formal memorandum, and the case remains at the complaint stage.

15. Hindu temple vandalised, sacred idol and images of deities desecrated in Bangladesh’s Habiganj

A Hindu temple in Purba Bulla village of Lakhai Upazila, Habiganj district, Bangladesh, was vandalised, with the idol of Goddess Kali and an image of Lord Krishna desecrated by unidentified miscreants.

The perpetrators allegedly smeared human faeces on a wall bearing the Hare Krishna Mahamantra and on an image of Lord Krishna inside the temple, triggering fear and anger among the local Hindu community. The following day, the crematorium’s tube well was damaged, while the idol of Goddess Kali at the cremation ground was vandalised and the broken idol was left on the cremation stove.

Residents described the incidents as a planned attempt to disturb communal harmony and demanded that those responsible be identified and brought to justice. They also sought enhanced security for religious establishments. Police launched an investigation and increased vigilance in the area, while local villagers also stepped up monitoring to help maintain peace.

No arrests had been made at the time of reporting, and the identities of the perpetrators remain unknown.

16. Hindu businessman critically injured in armed attack in Bangladesh, family members assaulted while trying to intervene

A Hindu businessman was critically injured after being attacked by an armed group at his business establishment in the Borairchar area of Chitalmari Upazila, Bagerhat district, Bangladesh. Several members of his family and employees were also injured while attempting to rescue him.

Bipin Mondal (35) was allegedly attacked by a group of 15 to 20 armed assailants following a dispute over local land and a pond. The attackers reportedly assaulted him with sharp weapons before looting cash and several mobile phones from the premises. His brother Dulal Mondal, nephew Nipun Mondal, and several workers sustained injuries while trying to protect him.

Bipin Mondal was initially admitted to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex and was later referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital after his condition deteriorated. The remaining injured received primary medical treatment.

Police and local administrative officials visited the spot and launched an investigation. At the time of reporting, no written complaint had been filed, though police stated that legal action would follow upon receipt of a formal complaint. The identities of the assailants had not been disclosed, and no arrests had been reported.

17. Hindu Minor Girls Subjected to Sexual Misconduct and Conversion Pressure in Bhopal

In Bhopal, two Hindu minor girls filed a complaint against several Muslim men, alleging sexual exploitation, intimidation, and pressure to convert to Islam. Police registered a case after members of a Hindu organisation caught the main accused, Saif, at a hotel with the girls and informed the police.

According to the complaint, the girls knew Mohammad Saif and Wasid for about two months. One of the girls said Saif called her on 2 June 2026, and after repeated pressure and intimidation, she met him at a nearby restaurant before going with the group to another cafe, then to a hotel in Saket Nagar. The complainants said they were made to consume beer, taken to multiple locations, and later subjected to inappropriate physical advances and molestation at the hotel.

The girls also alleged that Saif had previously taken one of them to the same and other hotels, where he established physical relations with her after intimidation and pressure. They said he repeatedly urged her to convert to Islam, wear a burqa, and adopt Islamic practices, and that Wasid also pressured her to embrace Islam. Police arrested the accused and initiated further investigation.

18. Hindu Dalit Woman Alleges Financial Inducement and Pressure for Conversion to Christianity in Jabalpur

A Hindu woman from the Scheduled Caste community in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, filed a complaint alleging that three Christian men financially assisted her before pressuring her to renounce Hinduism and convert to Christianity. The complaint further alleges sustained mental harassment and repeated demands to abandon Hindu deities and worship the Christian God.

The complainant, Sapna Malik, a domestic worker and resident of Hiltnaganj under the Cantt police station area, stated that she accepted financial help offered by the accused due to her economic condition. She alleged that they later demanded she change her religion, stop worshipping Hindu gods and goddesses, and abandon her Kuldevi (ancestral deity). She further stated that the continued pressure caused her severe mental distress and hurt her religious beliefs.

Dissatisfied with the local police response, Sapna Malik submitted a written application to Additional Superintendent of Police Suryakant Sharma, seeking the addition of non-bailable charges and the immediate arrest of the accused. The complaint was filed under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The victim is an adult Hindu woman belonging to the Scheduled Caste community. The accused are three Christian men. At the time of reporting, the matter was under investigation, with no confirmed FIR or arrests.

19. Disabled Hindu Children and Families Targeted for Conversion to Christianity at Missionary Institute in Dehradun

Disabled Hindu children and their families were allegedly targeted for religious conversion at a Christian missionary institution in the Premnagar area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The matter surfaced after the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights conducted a raid at the Medical Ambassador institution in Khairi village on 2 June. During the inspection, the Commission seized registers, files, posters, promotional material, literature, and other documents from the premises and handed them over to the police for investigation.

Commission Chairperson Dr. Geeta Khanna stated that while the institution claimed to provide education, social service, and assistance, preliminary findings indicated efforts to attract people towards Christianity and influence minor Hindu children and their families towards religious conversion. The Commission also stated that regular educational activities were not adequately evident during the inspection.

The Commission further stated that benefits, financial assistance, and other inducements were allegedly being used to influence the religious beliefs of vulnerable disabled Hindu children and their families. It also recovered documents indicating possible links with a hospital on Canal Road and records suggesting foreign financial assistance for proselytisation activities. The Commission expressed concern that the network’s activities could extend beyond Dehradun and urged a detailed investigation.

The victims are disabled Hindu children and their families. The accused include individuals associated with the Christian missionary institution, including a staff member from Manipur and a family from Pauri district allegedly involved in the activities. The Commission handed over all recovered material to the police for further investigation. At the time of reporting, the matter remained under investigation following the filing of a complaint.

20. Congress leader Jitu Patwari faces backlash after throwing sacred Hindu scarves at public event in Madhya Pradesh

Sacred Hindu scarves (angavastrams) bearing the names and images of Hindu deities were allegedly desecrated during a public programme in Unhel, Madhya Pradesh, after Congress leader Jitu Patwari threw them at the feet of people present.

The incident occurred during a Kisan Congress felicitation programme while Patwari was travelling from Indore to Mandsaur. A viral video showed a farmer presenting him with a sacred scarf inscribed with the names of Shri Radha and Lord Krishna. After accepting it, Patwari removed another religious scarf already around his neck, bearing images of Hindu deities, and threw both scarves down at the feet of those present while addressing the gathering.

The video triggered political controversy, with the Bharatiya Janata Party accusing Patwari of insulting Hindu religious symbols and hurting the sentiments of devotees. BJP state media in-charge Vivek Gupta described the act as an insult to Sanatan traditions and farmers, stating that throwing away a scarf inscribed with “Shri Radhe,” presented by farmers, had hurt Hindu religious sentiments.

At the time of reporting, no official response had been issued by the Indian National Congress regarding the incident.

21. Hindu woman forced to convert to Christianity for marriage; family also pressured for Christianity conversion in Uttarakhand

A Hindu woman from Gadarpur in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district filed a complaint alleging that a Christian man, identified as Rohit, arranged her baptism, compelled her to convert to Christianity before marriage, and later married her according to Christian religious practices. She further alleged that after the marriage, she was subjected to repeated harassment and that members of her family were also pressured to convert to Christianity.

Following the complaint, the district administration initiated an inquiry on the directions of the District Magistrate. A district-level committee visited Chakarpur village, recorded the statements of the complainant and her family, and examined documents related to the conversion, marriage, and subsequent allegations. According to the preliminary inquiry, evidence indicated that the victim had undergone baptism and conversion before marriage and that pressure had been exerted on both her and her family regarding religious conversion.

The victim is an adult Hindu woman. The accused is a Christian man identified as Rohit.

Officials stated that the allegations appeared to be substantiated on a prima facie basis. A report was prepared for submission to the District Magistrate, following which the police registered an FIR. The Senior Superintendent of Police stated that further action against the accused would proceed after examination of the Special Investigation Team’s findings.

22. Hindu woman sexually exploited after Muslim man posed as Hindu, pressured for conversion to Islam and threatened with death in Uttarakhand

A Hindu woman from the Sahaspur area of Dehradun alleged that a Muslim man, identified as Danish, concealed his religious identity, posed as a Hindu, and befriended her through Instagram before establishing a relationship with her. According to the complaint, he sexually exploited her on the promise of marriage and later pressured her to convert to Islam after revealing his true identity.

The victim alleged that when she refused to convert, the accused threatened to circulate her private photographs and videos and also issued death threats. Based on her complaint, police registered a case under relevant legal provisions, including the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion Act.

The victim is a Hindu woman. The accused is Danish, a Muslim man from Vikasnagar, who was arrested following a police investigation and produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

Police stated that the case involved allegations of deception, sexual exploitation on the pretext of marriage, and pressure for religious conversion, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.

The complainant is a Hindu resident of Nagla Banjara. The accused were alleged to be Muslim youths from the nearby Nanau village. A counter-complaint was also filed by Sagir, who alleged that he and his grandson were assaulted during the dispute.

After investigating the matter, the police stated that the allegation of urinating on the temple wall was found to be false and said the incident had originated from a dispute over water. Complaints from both sides were received, and the matter remains under investigation.

24. Hindu mother and two daughters found dead inside government guesthouse in Bangladesh

Police initiated an inquiry after receiving information about the posts shared from near the TVS showroom on Link Road. During the investigation, the account was identified as belonging to Ajmat Abad, son of Mohammad Ali, a resident of the Kotwali Nagar area. Police verified the presence of the objectionable content and registered a case against him.

Ajmat Abad was taken into custody and arrested under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. He was later produced before a court. Police stated that posting offensive content against any religion or deity on social media is a punishable offence and appealed to the public to use online platforms responsibly. The accused is a Muslim man, and the case remains under legal process.

26. Hindu temple desecrated in Himachal Pradesh; complaint alleges Maulvi paid Muslim youths to attack temples, called Hindus ‘kafirs’ and incited violence

According to the complaint filed by Rakesh Kumar, the clothes adorning the idol at the Mansa Devi Mata Temple were set on fire, while an idol of Lord Hanuman was allegedly desecrated by being urinated upon.

The complainant stated that the matter had first been reported to Manpura Police Station on 4 June 2026 but alleged that no action was initially taken. The incident gained further attention after a video surfaced in which a Muslim youth identified as Imran allegedly claimed that a Maulvi associated with the Dhela Mosque had instructed him and others to target Hindu temples and had offered them money to carry out such acts.

In the video, Imran allegedly stated that the Maulvi referred to Hindus as “kafirs”, called for attacks on Hindu temples, advocated killing Hindus, and urged that temples be burnt. He also claimed that he and his associates had surveyed temples in the area and discussed expanding similar attacks to other temples in Himachal Pradesh. Following the complaint, Inspector and Station House Officer Sanjay Kumar of Manpura Police Station found that the complaint prima facie disclosed an offence under Section 298 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Days later, another Muslim youth, identified as Aman, allegedly released a video praising Asad and expressing support for him.

The video featured photographs of Surya Chauhan, Asad, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Aman appeared wearing a blood-stained white kurta-pyjama while holding a knife. In the video, he said, “How many Asads will you kill? I too have my weapons ready,” while referring to the police encounter involving Asad.

Following the circulation of the video, Brahmapuri Police identified Aman as its creator. On 2 June 2026, he was apprehended near Kachha Dagda Bhumiya Bridge in the Harinagar Angoor Wali Masjid area of Meerut, and the knife displayed in the video was recovered. According to available information, Nasiruddin Patwari travelled to the border region and addressed gatherings in which he allegedly encouraged hostility towards India and the BSF. The speeches followed an earlier border incident in which an elderly man reportedly attempted to attack BSF personnel after a speech attributed to Patwari. The situation was brought under control following the intervention of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

Following the speeches, security was intensified in the Benapole border area, with surveillance increased amid concerns that further inflammatory rhetoric could trigger unrest. Following the controversy, the Valmiki Tirth Action Committee and Bhagwan Valmiki Vani Prachar Mahasabha Punjab submitted a complaint to the Police Commissioner seeking action. A Hindu court security officer, Megh Shyam Gautam, was found dead by suicide in his rented accommodation in Madhuvan Colony, Budaun, on 4 June 2026. His family alleged that he had been subjected to repeated harassment by his colleague, Shahid Ali, over wearing a tilak, causing him severe mental distress.

According to the family, Shahid Ali frequently objected to Megh Shyam Gautam wearing a tilak and often argued with him over his Hindu religious practice. Gautam had returned to Budaun on 3 June after a short leave. The following morning, when repeated phone calls from his daughter went unanswered, the landlord’s family informed the police. Officers forced open the locked room and found him hanging inside. Senior police officials reached the spot, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Following the post-mortem, which confirmed death by hanging, the victim’s wife, Vimlesh, sons Brijnandan and Madhav, and daughter Radhika accused Shahid Ali of mentally harassing Gautam over his Hindu religious identity and demanded strict action. Police stated that while the death initially appeared to be a suicide, the allegations made by the family were being investigated and further action would be taken based on the inquiry.

The victim was Megh Shyam Gautam, an adult Hindu court security officer. The family alleged that the harassment was carried out by Shahid Ali, a Muslim colleague. The case status was reported as a complaint filed, and the investigation was ongoing at the time of reporting.

33. Hindu youth dies by suicide after mother alleges prolonged pressure to convert by Muslim father in Agra

A 19-year-old Hindu youth, Harshit Arora, died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head inside a temple premises in Wazirpura, Agra, on 4 June 2026. Following his death, his mother, Richa Arora, lodged a complaint accusing her former husband, Saeed Qureshi alias Sahil, of abetting their son’s suicide through prolonged harassment and repeated pressure to convert to Islam.

In her complaint, Richa Arora stated that after separating from Saeed Qureshi in 2017, she raised their two sons as Hindus and that neither had been circumcised or converted to Islam. She alleged that Harshit was repeatedly pressured by his father to embrace Islam and was also subjected to social media taunts questioning his Hindu identity. She further claimed that the sustained harassment drove her son to take the extreme step and requested that the possibility of murder also be investigated.

Police registered a case of abetment to suicide and began investigating the circumstances surrounding Harshit’s death. Investigators stated that the case prima facie appeared to be one of suicide but continued to examine forensic evidence and the post-mortem report to determine whether the gunshot was self-inflicted or caused by another person. Police also confirmed that no suicide note was recovered.

Before his arrest, Saeed Qureshi surrendered before the court on 13 June 2026. Police stated that the investigation was continuing and that a charge sheet would be filed based on the evidence collected.

34. Derogatory video targeting Ram and Mata Sita sparks outrage in Uttar Pradesh, FIR registered

A minor Hindu student was allegedly assaulted, humiliated and threatened by a group of Muslim classmates at Madarhat High School in Baruipur, West Bengal, after they mistook him for a boy seen in a viral social media video chanting “Jai Shri Ram.” The incident occurred on 4 June 2026.

According to the victim and his family, the students dragged him into a school bathroom, forced him to watch graphic throat-slitting videos, and made him hold his ears and apologise on camera. Videos that later surfaced online allegedly showed the boy apologising before being slapped and assaulted over the perceived chanting of “Jai Shri Ram.” The victim stated that he was attacked again after returning to the classroom and was warned not to inform teachers about the incident.

The victim’s family said he had no connection with the viral video and was targeted only because he resembled the student featured in it. They further alleged that despite informing school authorities, no action was taken against the accused students. The family stated that the boy suffered multiple injuries, developed hearing problems following the assault, and stopped attending school due to fear and trauma.

36. Hindu Woman Abducted, Forcibly Converted and Married by Muslim Man in Uttar Pradesh

A 19-year-old Hindu woman from the Nawabganj police station area in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly abducted by Muzaid Ali, who, according to the police investigation and the victim’s statement, forcibly converted her to Islam and married her. Police stated that the accused made her recite the Kalma and perform Namaz and was preparing to take her to Mumbai before he was apprehended.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother on 4 June 2026, the woman went missing from her home during the night. During the family’s search, they learned that Muzaid Ali had allegedly enticed her away and fled with her. Following the complaint, police registered a case and launched a search operation by forming two teams to trace the victim and arrest the accused.

On 9 June 2026, police arrested the 23-year-old accused near the Kalakankar underpass. A marriage contract executed on an e-stamp paper was recovered from his possession. During the investigation, police found that the victim had been converted to Islam and married to the accused. Based on the victim’s statement, police added charges of kidnapping, forced marriage, criminal intimidation and unlawful religious conversion. The victim was recovered safely, and the investigation is ongoing.

The victim is a 19-year-old Hindu woman. The accused, Muzaid Ali, was arrested by the police in connection with the case.

37. Hindu woman raped, blackmailed with obscene video, pressured to convert and marry Muslim man in Bihar

A Hindu woman in Bihar’s Kaimur district alleged that she was raped, blackmailed with an obscene video, and pressured to convert to Islam and marry a Muslim man. The accused were identified as Ekram Ansari and his wife, Shahida Begum.

The incident occurred on 4 June 2026 when the victim visited Shahida Begum’s residence in a village under the Ramgarh police station area. According to the complaint, she was given an intoxicating substance, after which Ekram Ansari allegedly raped her while she was unconscious. Shahida Begum allegedly recorded an obscene video of the assault.

The victim stated that after regaining consciousness, the accused threatened to make the video public and used it to pressure her into converting to Islam and marrying Ekram Ansari. She later informed her family, following which a complaint was lodged at Ramgarh Police Station.

Based on the FIR, police arrested Ekram Ansari (35) and Shahida Begum (26) and initiated legal proceedings. The FIR was registered on 9 June 2026, and the investigation is underway.

The victim is an adult Hindu woman. The accused are a Muslim couple, Ekram Ansari and his wife Shahida Begum, who were arrested in connection with the case.

38. Vulnerable Hindus targeted through inducements and religious persuasion by Christian conversion network in Lakhimpur

In Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, a group of economically and socially vulnerable Hindus were allegedly targeted and persuaded to convert to Christianity through promises of healing, financial relief, and resolution of personal difficulties, as part of a reported conversion network operating in the region near the India–Nepal border.

The network was reportedly run by Pastor Vijay, a Nepal-origin preacher operating a discreet church from his residence without any visible signage or religious symbols. According to a media sting operation conducted by Dainik Bhaskar, a reporter infiltrated the group by posing as a Hindu labourer and interacted with the network for around twenty days, during which he was invited to participate in prayer meetings and conversion-related gatherings.

During these interactions, Pastor Vijay and associates, including a government school teacher identified as Shiv Prasad Gautam and his wife, allegedly encouraged the reporter to abandon Hindu practices, linking personal hardships to existing religious beliefs. The group reportedly assured relief from addiction, illness, and financial distress through Christian prayer and repeatedly discouraged Hindu rituals and symbols.

As part of the process, the sacred thread (kalava) worn by the reporter was cut after being described as an obstacle to prayer efficacy. Hindu practices such as idol worship, use of Ganga water, and other rituals were also reportedly discouraged. The conversion process continued through sustained engagement, including phone calls and repeated prayer sessions led by another preacher identified as Pastor Jeevan, during which the reporter was made to participate in declarations of faith in Jesus.

The investigation further described gatherings attended by multiple individuals, including previously converted participants who shared testimonies of leaving Hinduism. During one such event, attendees were served a red-coloured drink described as the “holy blood” of Jesus and were told it would help cure illness and resolve personal problems. The network was also alleged to have operated through local contacts who identified vulnerable individuals and directed them toward secret meetings held without public notice or signage.

Perpetrators identified in the report include Pastor Vijay, Pastor Jeevan, Shiv Prasad Gautam, and his wife. The network was described as operating discreetly, with participants acknowledging that gatherings were intentionally concealed to avoid public scrutiny.

The case has been documented in the context of alleged predatory proselytisation involving inducements, denigration of Hindu practices, and reported targeting of economically vulnerable individuals.

39. Hindu woman deceived into marriage by false identity, later assaulted and abandoned in Hathras

In Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu woman was allegedly deceived into marriage by a man who concealed his religious identity and posed as a Hindu under the name Sahab Singh Thakur. The marriage took place through a court proceeding in 2024, with the victim reportedly believing the accused belonged to the Thakur caste.

According to the complaint filed at Sadar Kotwali police station, the victim stated that the accused later revealed his true identity, after which her treatment changed drastically. She alleged that she was subjected to physical assault, forced to consume meat against her will, and compelled to wear a burqa. She further stated that the harassment escalated into repeated physical violence, and when she objected, she was beaten severely and left unconscious before being abandoned on the roadside.

The victim was later admitted to hospital after police intervention, and a case was registered. The Circle Officer, City, confirmed that an investigation into the matter was underway.

The accused, identified as a Muslim man, allegedly maintained a false Hindu identity to enter into the marriage. The case remains under investigation, with no final adjudication reported at the time of filing.

40. Hindu youths assaulted in Faridpur amid reported minority-targeted violence in Bangladesh

41. Hindu temples in Haryana receive bomb threats amid separatist warning and security alert

In Haryana, multiple Hindu temples and public institutions were reportedly threatened through an email sent in the name of the Khalistan National Army, warning of bomb attacks and declaring an intent to turn the state into “Khalistan.”

42. Hindus targeted for conversion through inducement and denigration of Hindu deities in Alwar

In Tanwar Colony of Alwar district, Rajasthan, Hindu residents were drawn into a prayer meeting where they were told to distance themselves from Hindu deities and accept Christian beliefs as part of a conversion attempt led by a pastor identified as Rajkumar.

The prayer gathering was held inside a residential house where participants were told that prayers conducted there could cure illnesses and resolve personal problems. Religious literature and Christian prayer materials were used during the meeting, with attendees being guided through readings from the Gospel and encouraged to adopt Christian practices.

Rajkumar, who identified himself as a resident of Delhi, stated during questioning that he had been conducting such prayer meetings in Alwar for several years and had converted around 15 people through his activities. He also admitted to regularly visiting the area for religious gatherings.

During the conversation, he claimed that if a Muslim government were ever established in India, Hindus would be unable to live freely and would eventually be forced to leave the country. He further suggested that Hindus currently live in India only due to Muslim tolerance and implied that a reversal of demographics would result in Hindu displacement.

He also made repeated statements portraying Hindus as weak and subordinate, and suggested that those who oppose Muslims would face violence. He described dominance over weaker groups as natural and justified such behaviour in areas where Muslims hold numerical or social influence. 44. “You are a Hindu, we will kill you”: Armed Muslim men attack Hindu youth after religious profiling in Hapur

In Buxar village of Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu youth named Deepanshu Sharma alias Pashu was attacked by a group of armed men after being identified as Hindu, leaving him critically injured.

The incident took place on 5 June 2026 when the victim was returning home from work along with a Muslim friend. The accused, identified as Faizan, Arman and several others, intercepted them on the way and first asked their names. After learning the truth, the victim approached Vesu Police Station and lodged a complaint. Police registered a case and initiated an investigation. The accused was later traced to Rajkot through technical surveillance and arrested. He was subsequently sent to judicial custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The activity came to light after a local Hindu tribal resident, Nanalal, refused to convert and reported the matter to authorities.

Nanalal, who attended the gathering with his family, stated that he was pressured to abandon Hinduism and later threatened with death after refusing to convert. He also said that pressure continued the following day, despite his refusal. He subsequently approached the police and lodged a complaint regarding the activities in the village.

Following the complaint, police conducted a raid at the location around 11 a.m., detaining 11 individuals linked to the gathering, including Christian pastors from Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand along with local organisers.
