New Delhi: VHP International President Alok Kumar hits at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying his description of RSS leaders as “jokers” and “clowns” reflects his “mental bankruptcy” and lack of logic.

Reacting to Gandhi’s remarks against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Alok Kumar said democracy demands decency and alleged that the Congress leader had failed to maintain the required decorum.
“I believe that democracy is an expression of decency. Rahul Gandhi does not adhere to this decorum. The RSS is the world’s largest voluntary organisation. India trusts the Sangh. Calling RSS leaders clowns reflects Rahul Gandhi’s mental bankruptcy. He has no logic,” Kumar said.
Alok Kumar’s sharp response came after Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the “Constructive Congress” convention in Delhi, launched a broadside against the BJP and RSS, describing them as a “bunch of jokers” and questioning their understanding of India’s philosophy and history.
What Rahul Gandhi Said About RSS
Rahul Gandhi said there was no reason to feel scared while taking on the RSS, comparing the organisation to “jokers” rather than a force that should intimidate the Opposition. “I can understand if you are fighting the British Empire and suddenly you say, I’m feeling a bit scared. But you’re fighting a bunch of jokers. How can you feel scared?” Gandhi said.
Taking a further swipe at the RSS, he said, “You’re literally fighting a bunch of jokers, clowns who have no idea about our philosophy, no idea about our history.” Gandhi also said that people who cannot connect with India as it exists today cannot understand the country.
“Somebody who cannot connect with India as it is today cannot understand India,” he said, stressing that India must be understood through its present-day expression and realities.
During the convention, Gandhi said the Opposition’s fight would continue until Prime Minister Narendra Modi resigns and Union Home Minister Amit Shah steps down. He said the political battle would be fought “with love, not hatred”.
Rahul Gandhi also accused many people of behaving like “cowards” in the face of the BJP-RSS and claimed the Opposition was fighting those who, according to him, had no understanding of India’s philosophy or history.
Rahul Gandhi Targets Modi’s Foreign Policy
Rahul Gandhi’s attack on the RSS came alongside criticism of the Modi government’s foreign policy. Speaking about the conflict involving Iran, Gandhi alleged that India had failed to leverage its relationships with Iran, the United States and Russia.
He also took a dig at Modi’s diplomatic style, alleging that the Prime Minister had become overly focused on personal rapport with foreign leaders. The Congress leader claimed that he was receiving information directly from Modi’s office and alleged that a “full-blown revolt” was taking place within it. However, his remarks against the RSS became the key flashpoint, prompting Alok Kumar’s strong rebuttal.
