Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) strongly condemned the arrest of its karyakartas during a peaceful march against irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations. ABVP karyakartas marched from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University to the Chief Minister’s residence and gheraoed the residence to demand justice for affected students. Police forcibly detained dozens of karyakartas, including ABVP Jharkhand State Secretary Prakash Tuti, Mahanagar Secretary Tushar Dubey, Harsh Yadav, Pintu Munda, Puneet and Ujjwal Kumar. ABVP said that instead of addressing serious concerns related to the future of thousands of students, the government chose to suppress a peaceful democratic movement through force.
ABVP has been consistently raising the issue of irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations. Following reports of irregularities, ABVP had submitted a detailed memorandum to the Governor, conducted signature campaigns across educational institutions and cities, and organised protests at district headquarters across Jharkhand. Today’s march and gherao were organised to support the aggrieved students and press the government to address their legitimate demands. The entire programme was peaceful and aimed at drawing the government’s attention to the concerns of students.
ABVP demanded that examinations whose credibility has been compromised be cancelled immediately and conducted afresh through a transparent and impartial process. It also demanded a fair investigation into alleged question paper leaks and other examination irregularities, strict action against those responsible, and comprehensive institutional reforms in the recruitment and examination system to prevent such incidents in the future. ABVP said that the government must ensure accountability and permanent reforms instead of merely making symbolic announcements or attempting to suppress student protests.
ABVP National General Secretary Dr Virendra Singh Solanki said, “The irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations have put the future of thousands of hardworking students in Jharkhand at risk and raise serious questions about the credibility of the examination system. Ensuring fair, transparent and credible examinations is the responsibility of every government and examination authority. Instead of addressing the legitimate concerns of students, the Jharkhand government has chosen to suppress a peaceful democratic protest by arresting students and ABVP karyakartas. Such action is deeply unfortunate and unacceptable in a democracy. ABVP firmly demands that examinations whose credibility has been compromised be cancelled and conducted afresh through a transparent process. Those responsible for examination irregularities must face strict action, and systemic reforms must be introduced to prevent such incidents from recurring. From Punjab and Karnataka to Jharkhand and Bihar, ABVP is raising the concerns of students against paper leaks, recruitment irregularities and an opaque examination system. No government can silence the voice of students through force. ABVP will continue its democratic and peaceful struggle for the legitimate rights and future of students until their concerns are addressed.”
ABVP Jharkhand State Secretary Prakash Tuti said, “Irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations have put the future of thousands of students at stake. The government should listen to students and resolve their genuine concerns instead of using force against a peaceful movement. Today’s march and gherao were completely peaceful, yet the police arrested ABVP karyakartas. This is highly condemnable. The government cannot run away from its responsibility. Examinations whose credibility is in doubt must be cancelled, those responsible for irregularities must face strict action, and comprehensive reforms must be brought into the examination system.”
