Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat in dialogue with Gen-Z- “Protest is also a mode of dialogue but to evolve consensus”

Mumbai: Emphasising India’s tradition of Shastrarth (scholarly debate) and invoking Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s guidance on constitutional methods, RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat urged society and institutions to understand the aspirations of Gen-Z and address their genuine concerns through dialogue and responsible governance. Dr Bhagwat addressed the questions of Gen Z at the championship conference that was organised by India’s International Movement to Unite Nations in Mumbai on August 6.

• Agitation is also a form of dialogue, but it should not lead to divisions within society.
• In the event of any disagreement, dialogue should always be the first course of action.
• India has a long-standing tradition of Shastrarth (scholarly debate), where equal importance is given to both the opposing viewpoint (Purvapaksha) and the response (Uttarapaksha).
• It is not that young people should never protest; rather, the purpose, method, and conduct of any protest should be appropriate and dignified.
• Dr. B.R. Ambedkar also emphasised in his speeches that movements and protests must adhere to proper principles and constitutional values.
• If Gen-Z is raising its voice, it should not be viewed merely as opposition; their concerns and challenges must be understood with empathy.
• It is the responsibility of society and the system to address the genuine issues and aspirations of the youth.
• A movement should not be directed against any individual, community, or group, but should aim to bring about necessary reforms in the system.
• A healthy democracy is founded on dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive participation.
