Telangana BJP strongly condemned the Congress government’s decision to relieve Cyber Crime DCP Arvind Babu from his duties and attach him to the DGP’s office for lawfully registering a case against those who posted morphed videos severely insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media.
BJP Telangana chief official spokesperson and media in-charge N.V. Subhash, in a statement on August 1, said the State government’s decision was highly objectionable. He alleged that the incident was yet another example proving that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was acting “cheaply”, rather than conducting himself like the Chief Minister of a state.
He said it was a matter of serious concern that the Congress government had removed a police officer from his duties instead of standing by its officers and taking action against those making insulting and hateful posts against the Prime Minister, who holds a constitutional office.
On July 31, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police registered an FIR against Meta India Head Arun Srinivas and several Facebook and Instagram accounts over the alleged circulation of AI-generated morphed videos and objectionable images targeting PM Narendra Modi during the recent Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests. The case was registered following complaints that the content was obscene, misleading and capable of spreading misinformation and disturbing public order.
The government’s crackdown on an officer for discharging his duties was shameful, and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy must answer for the reasons behind this decision, Subhash demanded.
BJP alleges double standards and political interference
Subhash questioned whether the government rewarded those who trolled the Prime Minister while two women journalists were arrested and remanded for making inappropriate remarks against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. “Is there one standard of justice for Revanth Reddy and another for the Prime Minister? Is this the respect you give to the Constitution? Is the Constitution written by Dr B.R. Ambedkar being enforced in Telangana, or are the laws of Rahul-Revanth Reddy (RRR) running the state?” he asked.
He said that if no action was taken against those insulting the country’s Prime Minister in Telangana, one could easily understand what would happen to common citizens who faced threats.

“When Congress and MIM goons, as well as foreign forces, attack BJP workers, will there be no response even if a complaint is lodged? Does this mean giving them a licence to attack us?” he asked.
Subhash further alleged that Revanth Reddy was acting today in the same manner as those who supported Akbaruddin Owaisi after his controversial remark, “If the police are removed for 15 minutes, we will finish off the Hindus.”
‘Law and order has collapsed under Congress’: BJP
Launching a scathing attack on the Revanth Reddy government, the BJP Telangana chief official spokesperson alleged that criminals and anti-social elements enjoyed the freedom to launch attacks, while common citizens lacked the freedom to file complaints and police officers lacked the freedom to receive them.
He claimed that a pathetic situation had arisen in the state where permission from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) was required even to register an FIR. Honest officers who refused to toe the government’s line were allegedly being harassed under the guise of transfers.
Subhash further alleged that despite boasting 20 years of political experience, Revanth Reddy lacked even basic knowledge of governance. When students sought fee reimbursement, he labelled them “criminals”, he said, adding that the Chief Minister had also demeaned Osmania University students by calling them drunkards. “Revanth Reddy is speaking without dignity, forgetting his stature as Chief Minister,” he alleged.
Keeping the law and police machinery under his control while aiding anti-social elements, Revanth Reddy was completely unfit to hold the Home portfolio, Subhash alleged. The BJP demanded that he immediately resign as Chief Minister and Home Minister for failing to provide governance with dignity.
BJP seeks apology over remarks against engineering students
Condemning Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s remarks describing engineering students as “criminal waste” and claiming they were unable to even fill out an application form, Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao demanded an immediate apology to the student community, particularly engineering students.
The controversy began on July 30, when CM Revanth Reddy, while addressing an education and skill development event in Hyderabad, termed engineering graduates as “criminal waste”, saying many could not even write a job application.
Rao alleged that the Chief Minister, who also holds the Education portfolio, had insulted the entire student community and defamed the education system. Terming the remarks deeply objectionable and derogatory, he further alleged that the Congress government had failed to release nearly ₹1,200 crore in pending fee reimbursement dues, placing educational institutions under severe financial pressure and jeopardising the future of lakhs of students, while simultaneously threatening college managements and insulting students. Warning of an agitation, Rao said the BJP would unite students and launch a protest if the Chief Minister failed to apologise.
