Nihang Sikhs Demand Apology from Abhijeet Dipke for insulting them
NEW DELHI: The ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi witnessed fresh turmoil on July 23 after a confrontation broke out between a group of Nihang Sikhs and CJP members, exposing internal differences within the protest.
According to videos circulating on social media and statements made by the Nihang Sikhs at the site, they had arrived to express solidarity with students protesting at Jantar Mantar. However, they alleged that they were treated disrespectfully by CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke during the interaction.
The Nihang Sikhs accused Dipke of disrespecting Sikh attire, which they said amounted to an insult to Sikh religious identity. They further alleged that five Nihang Singhs were humiliated despite visiting the protest in support of the demonstrators.
Members of the Nihang group stated that they had “nothing to do with the Cockroach Janta Party” and had come solely in support of the students.
The Nihang Sikhs have issued an ultimatum to Abhijeet Dipke, demanding a public apology. They warned that if no apology is forthcoming, they will stage a protest outside the CJP protest site and continue their agitation until the issue is resolved.
Notably, Nihangs sikhs have also accused a member of Bhim Army for spreading caste abuses against some castes.
