HYDERABAD: The 15th BRICS Trade Union Forum (BTUF) Summit-2026, hosted by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) under India’s BRICS Presidency, concluded on July 15, 2026 with the adoption of the Hyderabad Declaration, reaffirming the collective commitment of BRICS trade unions to strengthening workers’ rights, universal social security, inclusive growth, social dialogue, and sustainable development.
Addressing the international gathering, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Guest of the concluding session of the Summit, stated that, “The concept of an industrial family, i.e., the Government, employers, and the employees, can be achieved only through mutual trust and dialogue, and they must work together to ensure that technology serves humanity and creates opportunities for decent work rather than widening inequalities.”
He greeted the delegates from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and partner countries to Hyderabad and described Telangana as a land renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality. The Governor expressed happiness that Hyderabad had become the venue for an important international platform dedicated to dialogue on labour, development, and social justice. The Governor observed that India is among the world’s fastest-growing major economies and that the BRICS nations collectively represent a substantial share of the global population and economic output, placing them in a unique position to shape a more balanced, inclusive, and sustainable global economic order. Highlighting the rapidly evolving world of work, the Governor said that technological advancement, digital transformation, automation, and artificial intelligence are reshaping labour markets across the globe.
He also congratulated the dignitaries for overwhelmingly accepting the Hyderabad Declaration of the BRICS Summit 2026. Expressing confidence in the outcome of the deliberations, he said the Hyderabad Declaration would provide renewed direction for protecting workers’ rights, strengthening social security, promoting social justice, and advancing sustainable development across the BRICS nations.
He also underlined India’s significant achievements in expanding social security coverage for workers in both the organised and unorganised sectors through various welfare initiatives aimed at ensuring dignity, safety, and an improved quality of life for workers and their families.
The valedictory session was presided over by S Mallesham, President, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, and Chairperson of the Summit. The dignitaries on the dais included Carlos Augusto Muller (Brazil), Sergei Chernogaev (Russia), Huxiang Zhu (China), Masale Godfray Selematsela (South Africa), B Surendran, Chief Coordinator, BRICS Trade Union Forum, and Ms. Anjali Patel, Secretary, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), along with senior trade union leaders and delegates from BRICS member and partner countries.
Pawan Kumar, Vice President, BMS, welcomed the dignitaries and S. Mallesham, Chairperson, BRICS TUF 2026 and said that the Summit had witnessed meaningful deliberations on workers’ rights, universal social security, technological advancement, skill development, decent employment, and inclusive economic growth. He expressed confidence that the recommendations and the Hyderabad Declaration would further strengthen cooperation among BRICS trade unions.
S Mallesham, President of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, said that the Summit focused on four transformative themes—Universal Social Security for All, Women Workforce Empowerment, Skilling, Reskilling and Upskilling, and Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Labour. He said the Hyderabad Declaration reflects the shared commitment of BRICS trade unions towards workers’ welfare, sustainable development, social dialogue, and decent work.
Representatives from the participating BRICS countries appreciated the successful organisation of the Summit and reaffirmed their collective commitment to strengthening cooperation in promoting workers’ rights, universal social security, decent work, inclusive growth, and sustainable development. The Chinese delegation described the deliberations as constructive and forward-looking and expressed confidence that the Hyderabad Declaration would further deepen cooperation among BRICS trade unions.
Anish Mishra, National Treasurer, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), proposed the Vote of Thanks. The Summit concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
