Washington DC: The Kashmiri diaspora held a massive protest in the United States against the authoritarian rule of Islamabad. They shouted anti-Pakistani slogans for escalating humanitarian catastrophe in the Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir(PoJK). The demonstrators demanded international intervention to resolve the crisis of PoJK and liberate it from the illicit iron fist of Pakistan & restore its democratic or economic rights. The protestors also raised slogans against Pakistan and shouted, “Stop state terrorism in PoJK”.

With this, the continuously soaring anti-Pakistan protest in PoJK, has gone global. Recently, anti-Pakistan protests were held in London, United Kingdom as well. Thus, the Kashmiri diaspora aims to grab the global attention towards the atrocities of Islamabad committed in Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir(PoJK). The members of the Jammu and Kashmir community from Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia and other parts of the United States, staged a protest outside the White House, urging Washington DC and other countries to intervene and resolve the crisis in PoJK, imposed by Islamabad.

The protest in the US was organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee(JAAC) and members of the Kashmiri diaspora amid continuing anti-establishment protests and unrest in PoJK. More than 100 US residents, who have roots in PoJK participated in the protests, including women and the children. The protestors reiterated how the Pakistani atrocities are fuelling the humanitarian crisis in PoJK. They also highlighted PoJK is suffering from a steep unemployment crisis, water & electricity shortage and there is a scarcity for even basic necessities.

The protestors also asserted that the Pakistani security forces are using violent forces against peaceful demonstrators who are demanding their fundamental rights. This has led to the death of women, children and other innocent civilians. The demonstrators thus called on world nations and international human rights organisations to take immediate action against Pakistan to protect civilians of PoJK & restore their fundamental rights. JAAC also said that Pakistan is choosing violence & force over dialogue.

Protests mount in Muzaffarabad against Pakistan

Meanwhile, thousands of people in Muzaffarabad of PoJK, continue to hit the streets against the draconian rule of Islamabad. They are demonstrating against high taxes, rising prices, unemployment and arrest of peaceful protestors. They are demanding to release the detained civil rights leaders. The crowd erupted and the protest intensified, as Pakistani security forces tried to suppress the protest. The situation in PoJK thus remains fragile & volatile and the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee(JAAC), the spearheader of the protests in PoJK against Pakistan also recently gave 48 hours ultimatum to Islamabad to address the problems.
