The Coalition of Hindus of North America(CoHNA) has slammed New York based writer Yashica Dutt for sowing the seeds of rift and polarisation among the Indian American community. Reacting to the resolution passed in the state of Georgia against Hinduphobia and anti-Hindu hate & violence, Yashica Dutt claimed that Hinduphobia is not equivalent to comprehensive anti-India sentiment. Because Indians also include Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Dalits who don’t identify as Hindus.
Such statements by Yashica Dutt is a clear sign of creating internal rift and polarisation among the Hindu and Indian community residing in the United States. Such interpretations derail the efforts of the Indian American community who are relentlessly fighting against spiking cases of anti-hindu hate and targeted violence. She further asserted that “Hinduphobia” is a term and narrative coined to counter the anti-caste efforts against caste discrimination and domination in India. Thus, the New York based writer tends to outrightly refute the hate & discrimination encountered by the Hindus & Indians in America, just to prove her ideological motives.

CoHNA slams Yashica Dutt & exposes the hash reality of anti-Hindu hate
The Coalition of Hindus of North America has slammed the discriminative and prejudiced post of Yashica Dutt. It illustrated how Hinduphobia and anti-Hindu hate is a harsh reality in the United States and beyond. The organisation also hailed the resolution passed by Georgia state as a much needed effort to curb rising targeted violence. “Gaslighting at its best and another attempt to completely deny the dozen American Hindu temples that have faced vandalism, hostile visitors and in one case even gun shots while devotees were inside. All this just since 2022”, CoHNA wrote on its X platform, reacting to Yushica Dutt’s post.
CoHNA further reiterated that how privileged people such as Yashica Dutt who enjoy institutional power manipulate the facts, just to fulfill their prejudiced or ideological deeds. “Meanwhile privileged voices with institutional power, like Yashica Dutt, always downplay, deny or justify anti-Hindu hate. Freedom of religion is a foundational principle of America. So how does protecting Hindu temples hurt the sentiments of other faiths?? And what does it have to do with her favorite bogeyman-caste?”, wrote CoHNA.

The violently brewing anti-India and anti-Hindu hate sentiment is a reality in the United States and instead of voicing for the unity of Indian Americans against the evil forces, people like Yashica Dutt are further fueling hate and polarisation, by illogically invoking caste discrimination. Hindus include every community and radical sections of America, target all Hindus, irrespective of caste. Thus, it’s time to unite against the targeted violence in the US and not the time to build fake narratives such as Hinduphobia as a term invented to conceal caste discrimination. Such baseless arguments don’t find evidence or ground.
Yashica Dutt blocks CoHNA on X
Meanwhile, Yashica Dutt, unable to bear the facts exposed by CoHNA regarding Hinduphobia, has blocked the organisation on the social media platforms. Thus, CoHNA writes, “If Ms. Dutt had not blocked us, we’d let her know that Hinduphobia resolutions are important precisely because they call out religious bigotry — which by definition is not linked to country of origin. We’d also like to remind folks that American Hindus come in all ethnicities”.
CoHNA further explains the reality of Hinduphobia. It reiterates that not just the temples founded by Hindus who have roots in India are vandalised. But also the temples run by Hindus who have roots in Utah, Caribbean and Fiji are also targeted and destroyed. Thus, Hinduphobia is not a deliberately constructed narrative, but a devil illicitly targeting the entire Hindu community, their practices and belief systems. “Hinduphobic folks do not care if the Hindu is White, Brown, Black or some other race”, CoHNA further states.
Georgia’s resolution against Hinduphobia
Also, the Coalition of Hindus of North America further thanks Georgia for its resolution against Hinduphobia. It is deemed as a vital step to curb anti-India and anti-Hindu hate rapidly escalating across the United States. “Thankfully the State of Georgia realized the problem when they woke up one morning to find dot-buster-like signs planted around an Atlanta suburban neighborhood. We are very proud of the work of the CoHNA Georgia team in working with state lawmakers to ensure protection for all”, CoHNA added.
Georgia is the first American state to formally recognise Hinduphobia in its state penal code in 2025. The legislation empowers law enforcement and state agencies to account for Hinduphobia and targeted violence while documenting and responding to incidents of bias and discrimination. The cases of anti-hindu hate and targeted violence by the radical elements is soaring at a drastic scale across the United States.
From streets to social media platforms Hindus are increasingly being victims of abuse, derogatory comments etc. Hindu places of worship and institutions are vandalised. Yet, people like Yashica Dutt, instead of working towards unity and protecting the rights of Hindus and Indians are sowing the seeds of polarisation & hatredness and derailing the genuine efforts of organisations such as CoHNA.
