Guwahati: Five brave hearts of Indian Air Force (IAF) attained martyrdom in a tragic flight accident that took place in Jorhat air force station. An AN-32 cargo carrier of IAF met with an accident while landing in the airforce station at around 10 am on 13th June. The Indian Air Force deeply regrets the loss of five personnel in the An-32 accident at Jorhat, Assam.
The cause of the fatal accident is not yet certain but IAF has initiated an enquiry on the tragic accident.

3 IAF office officers and 2 Agniveervayu made the supreme sacrifices in the line of duty in the tragic air crash. The martyrs have been identified as Sqn Ldr Prashant Singh, Flt Lt Shubham Kumar, Sgt Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.
IAF extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and stands firmly with them in this hour of grief.
The aircraft belonged to the 43 squadron of the Indian Air Force and was carrying cargo to Jorhat air station at the time of the accident. The accident took place in the Rowriah area of Jorhat town where the air force station is located.
Immediately after the crash at 10 am this morning, senior IAF officials, Assam police and top officials of district administration rushed to the location. Security was tightened in the nearby areas to prevent any unauthorised trespass. The AN-32 aircraft is widely used by the Indian Air Force (IAF) for cargo transportation and supply of essential materials in different parts of the country for military use including very remote and difficult terrains in the Northeastern region. IAF has ordered a top level enquiry to find out the actual cause of the fatal air crash.
