New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on an official visit to France and Slovakia from June 13 to 18, during which he will hold bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, participate in the G7 Summit in France, and attend the VivaTech technology event in Paris.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding cooperation in innovation and technology, and enhancing India’s engagement with European partners.
The tour will cover four major engagements: bilateral talks in Nice, a State Visit to Slovakia, participation in the G7 Summit in Evian, and engagements in Paris, including attendance at the VivaTech Summit.
The government said the visit is expected to deepen India’s partnership with France and Slovakia, strengthen cooperation with G7 countries, and advance collaboration in innovation, digital transformation and entrepreneurship. It also underlines India’s efforts to further its broader strategic partnership with the European Union.
Bilateral talks in Nice and ‘Bharat Innovates’ event
Prime Minister Modi will begin his visit in Nice, France, where he will meet President Macron on June 14. The two leaders are expected to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations under the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership, which was elevated earlier this year to the level of a Special Global Strategic Partnership. During their meeting, the leaders will discuss ongoing cooperation across sectors and review progress in key areas of bilateral engagement.
A major highlight of the visit will be the joint inauguration of the “Bharat Innovates” event by Modi and Macron. The event, being organised as part of the India-France Year of Innovation, will bring together leading innovation startups and venture capital funds from India, France and other countries. According to the MEA, the initiative aims to further strengthen the innovation partnership between the two countries and create opportunities for collaboration between startups, investors and technology ecosystems. The government said Prime Minister Modi’s participation in Bharat Innovates will spotlight India’s growing role as a global hub for innovation, digital transformation and entrepreneurship.
Historic Slovakia visit and participation in G7 summit
In the second leg of the tour, Prime Minister Modi will undertake a State Visit to the Slovak Republic from June 14 to 16 at the invitation of Prime Minister Robert Fico. The visit will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country’s independence in 1993 and the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country.
During the visit, Modi will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Fico and meet Slovak President Peter Pellegrini. The discussions are expected to focus on expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, automobile manufacturing and railway cooperation. The visit follows a series of recent high-level exchanges between the two countries. President Droupadi Murmu paid a State Visit to Slovakia in April 2025, while President Pellegrini visited India for the AI Impact Summit in February 2026. According to the government, the visit is expected to reaffirm India’s commitment to strengthening relations with Slovakia and explore new avenues of cooperation across multiple sectors.
Following the Slovakia visit, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Evian, France, to participate in the G7 Summit scheduled for June 16 and 17.
At the summit, he will exchange views with G7 leaders, invited partner countries and international organisations. He is expected to participate in summit sessions on “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity,” “Reviving Balanced, Shared and Sustainable Economic Growth for All,” and “Ensuring a Safe, Rapid and Efficient Rollout of Artificial Intelligence (AI).”
The Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the summit. The government said India’s participation in the G7 Summit reflects the country’s standing as a leading voice of the Global South and a key partner in addressing global challenges.
Paris engagements and VivaTech summit
In the final leg of the visit, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Paris on June 18 for further bilateral engagements and to participate in the VivaTech Summit, Europe’s largest technology and startup event. The Prime Minister is also expected to interact with members of the Indian community in the French capital during the visit.
According to the MEA, Modi’s participation in the VivaTech Summit is expected to promote deeper cooperation between Indian, French and European technology ecosystems and encourage new partnerships in innovation, investment and entrepreneurship.
The government said that participation in both the Bharat Innovates initiative and the VivaTech Summit will showcase India’s strengths in technology, startups and digital innovation while creating opportunities for collaboration with European partners. The six-day Europe tour will thus combine bilateral diplomacy, multilateral engagement and technology-focused cooperation. Covering France, Slovakia and the G7 Summit, the visit is expected to strengthen India’s strategic partnerships in Europe while expanding engagement in areas such as innovation, artificial intelligence, trade, investment, manufacturing and digital transformation.
