CHENNAI: Beling the hope that the actor Joseph Vijaya turned politician’s TVK government is no different to that of DMK when it comes to containing crimes against women. Hardly ten days old government witnessed slew of crimes against women and murder. The tragic one is abduction, sexual assault and murder in a gruesome is a telltale example of the condition of law and order as well the mindset of criminals and predators.
The abduction, sexual assault and brutal murder of a 10 years old from Sulur incident is still fresh in the memory of the Tamil Nadu people, more and more such crimes are coming up is a real concern for all.
In Salem, police arrested Electricity Board (EB ) employee Srinivasan (51) for giving sexual tortures to a 16-year-old girl near Edapadi. He is held under Pocso act.

in another incident, according to vlogger Maridhas, 12th standard student was sexually assaulted near Madurai Vadipatti. Police arrested 39years old caf mechanic in this connection. During the TVK’s 13 days rule, so far 22 sexual assaults. Law and order has become a laughingstock”.

The ten year old girl went missing around 5 pm on May 22. As search to find her yielded no result, her parents lodged a missing person complaint on the same day night. Police after registering FIR formed teams to find her. It examined visuals from over 250 CCTV cameras. It found, Karthi, known to the girl’s family, had taken the victim in his two-wheeler on that day. Based on that, police found him hiding in a first floor which trying to arrest, he jumped down to the ground resulting limb fractures in his right hand and right leg. He admitted taking the girl and sexually assaulted her. Based on his confession, his accomplice Mohan was also arrested.

After the body of the girl was found on May 23, her family members and locals staged a protest in front of Sulur police station on Tiruchi road.
Police said Karthi, a load man from Nagapattinam and mohan, a painter from Thanjavur had been residing in the same area for 10 years.

Chief Minister Joseph Vijay expressed shock and said that he had instructed officials to conduct thorough probe. DGP Sandeep Rai Rathore and ADGP (Law and order) Mahesh Dayal visited the crime spot and reviewed investigation.

TVK government had recently formed Singa Penn (line Girl) force to exclusively attend crimes against women in TN. DMK leader and LoP in Assembly, Udhaya Nidhi Stalin said “ 30 major crime incidents had occurred within 12days of the new government assuming office. It casts doubts on State’s law and order situation. Persons responsible for this should be swiftly brought to justice and punished”.
AIADMK general secretary Edapaddi K Palaniswamy said “ despite the matter being taken to the attention of the police within hours of the girl going missing there is no follow up and this exposed the weaknesses in the system governing law and order and administrative efficiency. This government should function as a real government instead of being a ‘reel(social media) government”.
BJP state president Nainar Nagendran said “the crime could hae been prevented if the govt. had shown even a fraction of the interest and concern it displayed for mere promotional campaigns toward the safety of women and children instead.
Girl’s parents said ‘face neck and body of the victim had bruises. Her face was totally disfigured. She was strangulated as there were marks in her neck. Her hand, shoulder limbs were broken. She was subjected to gruelling by the killers”
A 14-year-old girl , accompanied with her mother to a dargah was allegedly gangraped by a history-sheeter and his associate on the banks of a waterbody near Madurantakam on Monday (18th May) night. According to police reports , the girl was sexually assaulted. The victim was lured to visit dargah with sweet words. In this connection Fathima, her husband Imran and his brother Ajmal have been arrested under Pocso act.

Meanwhile, National Women Commission, in a Suo motu action , has directed TN DGP to inform action taken in the Sulur girl abduction, rape and killing incident within 7 days. It also sought under what sections case was registered, biopsy report, digital evidence etc besides offering counselling to victim’s family.
