We should not think the present war in West Asia is between two countries; it is survival and occupation, some approach to human life, it is not tenable, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale in an exclusive interview with PTI’s CEO & Editor-in-Chief Vijay Joshi.
When asked how minorities can be assured that they are safe in India and that references to a ‘Hindu nation’ are meant in a cultural, not religious, sense, Dattatreya Hosabale said, “Are Muslims treated as second-class citizens in India? Are government schemes not reaching them? We have continuous dialogues with leaders of the minority community. We believe that a change of religion has not changed our nationality. When the nationality is one, we do not consider them as different. We are not creating a Hindu nation; this is a Hindu nation. When there was British Raj (rule) here, then also it was a Hindu nation.”
“The nationalist leadership among Muslims, which was present during the freedom struggle and gradually declined after the creation of Pakistan, has become rare due to political changes and pseudo-secular policies in India. The nationalist leadership among Muslims has become a rare commodity, they are not supported. You have to be a separatist person, then only the community supports,” he said.
When asked about the war in West Asia, he said, “If you see the world history in last 30 years, there was no time, there was absence of wars, it has always been there… So, wars are taking place. Wars generally take birth in mind. Wicked things come from wicked mind. When you become greedy, the wars break out. Arrogance of a nation is also possible, not just the individual, these things create wars, if we talk about West Asia war, there has been many wars because of commercial interests. Earlier it was predicted wars will happen because of oil, now people are predicting, there will be war on water. These wars are not going to finish the humanity, but it will have influence on human life. The present war, we should not think it is between two countries, it is survival and occupation, some approach to human life, it is not tenable.”
