Hyderabad, May 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a BJP public meeting at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds in Hyderabad on May 10, issued seven appeals to the people of the country in the backdrop of global developments in West Asia and their possible economic impact on India.

Highlighting the need for national responsibility during a period of international uncertainty, the Prime Minister called upon citizens to adopt measures aimed at reducing economic pressure, conserving resources, and strengthening self-reliance.

Under the theme “Nation First – PM Modi’s 7 Appeals”, the Prime Minister urged citizens to “Prioritize Work From Home wherever possible”. He also appealed to the public to “Avoid buying gold for one year”.

As part of measures to reduce fuel consumption, Modi urged people to “Reduce petrol & diesel consumption: use metro/public transport”. He further appealed to citizens to “Cut down the use of cooking oil”.

Calling for environmentally sustainable agricultural practices, the Prime Minister urged farmers and citizens to “Reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and move toward natural farming”.

Emphasising self-reliance and domestic production, Modi appealed to people to “Use fewer foreign-branded products and adopt Swadeshi”.

The Prime Minister also urged citizens to “Avoid foreign travel for one year”.

The appeals came as the Prime Minister spoke about global instability, disruptions in supply chains, and economic challenges emerging due to ongoing geopolitical developments in West Asia and other regions. Modi stressed that collective public participation and responsible consumption would strengthen the country during times of international uncertainty.

During his tour, Modi launched a sharp attack on the Congress party at the BJP public meeting held at Secunderabad Parade Grounds. He alleged that the Congress had transformed into a “Muslim League Maoist Congress” and accused it of promoting divisive and Maoist ideology. He claimed Congress and Left parties had provided ideological support to Maoists, leading to decades of violence in Telangana.

The Prime Minister also accused Congress of corruption, dynastic politics, and failing to fulfil promises in states where it governs. Modi said Telangana’s people were now seeking political change and looking towards the BJP.
