Kunnamangalam (Kozhikode, Keralam). RSS’ Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Sadasya Suresh Joshi Ji (Bhaiyyaji Joshi), stated that caste consciousness must be completely eradicated from society. He was addressing a gathering of prominent citizens in Kunnamangalam, held as part of the RSS Centenary programmes.

He noted that society today places excessive importance on caste, with people divided into nearly 600 castes and sub-castes, viewing themselves as separate entities.

“We have a tradition of abandoning customs that are no longer conducive to social life”, he said. “Practices that do not align with modern society must go. Similarly, ideologies that oppose gender equality must be eliminated.”

Key Highlights –

National Identity over Caste – He emphasized that the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar promotes the idea that we are all Indians first. He urged that there is no need for exclusive pride based on language or state boundaries.

“There should be a collective consciousness that 140 crore people are Hindus and, fundamentally, Bharatiyas (Indians)”, he added.

Strengthening Family Values – While the Bharatiya family system is traditionally noble, he expressed concern over the rising rates of divorce and the disintegration of family bonds due to growing individualism.

Education and Culture – He stressed the importance of nurturing correct cultural values in the younger generation through both the family structure and the educational system.

Environment and Economy – He called for a lifestyle that incorporates environmental protection and the empowerment of the rural economy.
