Value-based schooling shines: Saraswati Shishu Mandir student Pulla Chaitra bags State 3rd rank in Telangana SSC exams

In times when academic success is often associated with expensive coaching and corporate institutions, stories emerging from modest homes carry a deeper resonance. They remind us that merit, when nurtured with care and discipline, can rise above structural inequalities.

The Telangana SSC results declared on April 29 brought one such story into focus. Pulla Chaitra, a student of Sri Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Saidabad in Hyderabad, secured an exceptional 595 out of 600 marks, emerging as the state’s third ranker.

Chaitra’s achievement stands as both a deeply personal milestone and a testament to the Shishu Mandir school systems that shaped her—showing how individual determination, when guided by steady and value-based schooling, can flourish even in a highly competitive environment.

Dr. Chamarthi Uma Maheswara Rao, former IAS officer and South-central Regional President of Vidya Bharati, described her success as a moment of quiet pride. He pointed out that Chaitra’s accomplishment stands out precisely because it was achieved outside the framework of corporate schooling, which today dominates the narrative of academic excellence.

Vidya Bharati’s Shishu Mandir institutions, known for their value-based and accessible education, have long operated on the belief that character and clarity of thought are as important as marks.

Chaitra’s background underscores this belief. Her father works in the private sector, while her mother is a teacher in the same Shishu Mandir school. With limited means but clear priorities, her parents invested not in shortcuts, but in a steady educational environment.

Chaitra herself attributes her performance to a stress-free approach to studies, along with the consistent encouragement from her teachers and principal.

The broader performance of Shishu Mandir schools across Telangana lends weight to this question. Out of 970 students from 39 schools who appeared for the examinations, 594 scored above 500 marks, with an impressive 99 percent pass rate. Such outcomes suggest that academic rigour, when combined with a supportive environment, can rival even the most resource-intensive systems.

Chaitra was felicitated by Sri Saraswati Vidya Peetham Telangana President Prof. Tirupati Rao and Secretary Anagha Venkata Lakshmi, who also honoured her parents and school leadership—an acknowledgement that success in education is rarely individual, but collective.

Saraswati Shishu Mandir schools come under Sri Saraswati Vidyapeetham and are affiliated with Vidya Bharati, New Delhi, an all-India organisation established to provide quality education with an emphasis on the all-round development of the child.
