India is a secular country. No government manages any gurudwara, mosque, church, Buddhist vihara, or Jain shrine here, but unfortunately, the Himachal government has taken control of the 37 largest temples of Hindu society. Now is the time to hand over the management of all these major temples to Hindu society as well. At the same time, a strong crackdown on conversion and cow smuggling in the state is also essential, said Milind Parande, Central Organisation General Secretary of Vishva Hindu Parishad.
He was in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, on April 30, addressing a press conference during his one-day visit to the state.
He stated that Hindu temples in Himachal Pradesh are overseen by a commissioner under the Hindu Public Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1984. The same commissioner nominates the trustees of these temples at his convenience.
As a result, the temples endure government interference, and their religious leadership has no authority to make decisions about their religious sites. By pressuring these temple trustees, the government has been diverting a large portion of their offerings to fund secular activities carried out by the state, which compelled the state’s honorable High Court to intervene in this matter.
He said that every year, offerings exceeding approximately 200 crore rupees are contributed by devotees who place their faith in Sanatan culture to these temples for the religious, spiritual, and cultural welfare of Hindus, temple development, community kitchens, service activities, and so on.

It must be remembered that this is the money of Hindus and those who hold faith in Sanatan values, devoutly dedicated by the devotees to the Lord.
He emphatically stated that Hindu money should be used for Hindu causes and by Hindu society alone. The government must stay away from this work. The Vishva Hindu Parishad demands that the Himachal Pradesh government hand back the management of Hindu temples to Hindu society.
Land Jihad:
The VHP also expresses concern over the rising incidents of land jihad in Devbhoomi Himachal. Encroachment on government land, illegal constructions such as shrines on it, and the increasing misuse of seized properties under religious pretexts for residential and commercial purposes are alarming.
A complete halt to all these must also be enforced. Illegal mosques in Sanjuli, Mandi, and other places are a major example of this. The Himachal Pradesh government should take immediate action on this issue.
Love Jihad and Conversion:
He said that the increasing incidents of love jihad in Devbhoomi Himachal are deep conspiracies to fracture Hindu society and create demographic imbalance. This has led to a sense of insecurity and deep outrage pervading Hindu society.
Conspiracies are being hatched to eradicate Dev culture through love jihad and illegal conversions.
Yet, due to the state government’s lack of requisite seriousness, conflicts have arisen in many places.
Such incidents are being reported from all districts of Himachal, including Sanjuli, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Chamba, Una, Indora, Nurpur, Nerwa, Nalagarh, Bilaspur.
The state government should strengthen the conversion law, demonstrate promptness in its enforcement, and also take steps toward protecting Hindu women and upholding their dignity.
He warned that if the government and administration still do not adopt a firm stance on the above issues, Hindu society will be compelled to launch a public movement for the safeguarding of the state’s Dev culture.
