VHP slams opposition MPs over ‘Sant Attire’ protest in Parliament, demand action against those who insulted Sanatan

New Delhi: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) International Joint General Secretary Dr Surendra Jain strongly criticised the protest staged by opposition Members of Parliament in saintly attire within the Parliament complex, describing it as a direct insult to Sanatan Dharma, revered saints and the religious sentiments of the entire Hindu society.

Dr Surendra Jain said that the demonstration by Congress-backed Independent MP Pappu Yadav dressed as sant was an act of the lowest order.

He said that just as Ravana had assumed the disguise of a saint through deceit, these leaders were similarly misusing religious symbols in an attempt to hurt Hindu faith.

He further said that the opposition parties’ anti-Hindu attitude was not new. From creating obstacles to the construction of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple to the present, they have consistently targeted Sanatani beliefs. According to him, these actions stem from their frustration following the construction of the grand Ram Temple. He added that Hindu society is patient and tolerant, but it should not be forced to go beyond the limits of constitutional and linguistic decorum.

Dr Jain challenged the leaders, saying that if they truly had the courage, they should wear the attire of religious leaders or clerics of any other faith and mock their symbols. He claimed that doing so would immediately trigger massive protests on the streets and make it difficult for them to move freely.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad also strongly urged the Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha to initiate the strictest disciplinary action against the MPs who, according to the organisation, disrespected religious symbols within the Parliament premises. It further stated that the VHP is also considering initiating legal proceedings against what it described as an indecorous act that hurt religious sentiments.

Dr Surendra Jain issued a clear warning that if such acts are not checked immediately, the anger of saints and the entire Hindu society would soon be witnessed on the streets.
