Dr Mohan Bhagwat inaugurates Spoorti Mandir at Kandakurti, RSS founder KB Hedgewar Ji’s ancestral village

In a significant moment of cultural and ideological reaffirmation, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on April 11 inaugurated the Shri Keshav Sphoorti Mandir at Kandakurti—the ancestral village of K. B. Hedgewar. More than just the unveiling of a new institution, the event symbolised a renewed connection to the roots of a legacy that has shaped national thought for decades

Kandakurti (Nizamabad): Describing Kandakurti as a sacred land that has inspired generations, RSS Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat, on April 11, inaugurated the newly constructed Shri Keshav Sphoorti Mandir in the ancestral village of KB Hedgewar.

The event marked not just the opening of a sports mandir, but the reaffirmation of a legacy rooted in the soil of Kandakurti, which Dr Mohan Bhagwat said continues to inspire national thought and action.

The Place: Root of a Legacy

Kandakurti, identified as the ancestral origin of Doctorji, holds deep historical and emotional significance. While Nagpur remains the karmabhoomi where the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh took shape, Dr Mohan Bhagwat emphasised that Kandakurti represents the moolasthaan — the foundational source.

He noted that just as the Smriti Mandir in Nagpur draws people from across the country, it was natural that Kandakurti too should have a centre that reflects Doctorji’s memory and inspiration.

The idea, he said, was conceived 32 years ago and has now taken shape on the same date — April 11.

Sphoorti Kendra Inauguration

Dr Mohan Bhagwat inaugurated the Shri Keshav Sphoorti Mandir and toured the galleries showcasing the life and work of Doctorji through detailed visual narratives. The art gallery presents a comprehensive account of Hedgewar’s life, values, and contributions.

He also visited the temples within the premises, including Keshava Murthi, Rukmini Sameta Vittaleshwara, and Skanda shrines. Following the visit, he recorded his reflections in the visitors’ book.

Contributors to the construction of the Mandir — including engineers, architects, artists, and workers — were honoured during the programme.

From Ancestral Soil to National Mission

In his address, Dr Mohan Bhagwat underlined a deeper symbolic connection — that Kandakurti is not just a birthplace of lineage, but a land of awakening.

Referring to a depiction in the gallery, he noted that the story of Garuda liberating his mother, Vinata, is also associated with this land, drawing a parallel to Doctorji’s resolve to free Bharat Mata from the chains of slavery.

He stated that, from a young age, Doctorji was driven by a firm determination to liberate the nation from foreign rule and that he worked with unwavering integrity and selflessness.

Calling the Sphoorti Mandir a centre of national awakening, Dr Mohan Bhagwat said such spaces must inspire future generations to dedicate themselves to society and the nation.

“Kandakurti is not just a place of the past; it is a living source of inspiration,” he indicated, adding that the legacy carried from this land continues to guide and shape national thought.

We should take a firm resolve that people must visit Kandakurti regularly, for this sacred land continues to inspire generations and strengthens our sense of duty towards the nation.

Among the participants are Dr. B. V. R. Mohan Reddy, founder and executive Chairman of Cyient and Sri Chamakura Sudhakar Reddy. The programme will also witness the participation of local Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and senior Pracharaks of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh from the state.
