Goa: Due to the joint efforts of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP)and saints from various sects, an atmosphere of religious awakening is being created across the country, and the process of gharvapsi is gaining momentum, said Alok Kumar, International President of VHP.

He was addressing a press conference organised at Shri Datt Padmanabh Peeth in Kundei, Goa. He informed that during the recently concluded five-day ‘Sant Samvad’ in the Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Goa regions, it was clearly felt that the saint community is now actively stepping forward in the work of societal awakening.

He said that such programs of ‘Sant darshan and Sant samvad’ will be organised on a large scale across the country. Through these programs, the saint community will raise awareness in society on issues like religious conversion and inspire people to return to their original cultural roots.

The VHP has identified approximately 850 sensitive areas across the country where active efforts are being made at various levels to prevent religious conversions.

Alok Kumar said that, “Due to the insistence of the saints, awareness is increasing in society, and in many places, people in villages, neighborhoods, and settlements are expressing their desire to return to their original religion. Those who wish to return will be respectfully accepted through religious rites.”

He further said that, “Saints across the country are actively stepping forward in this work, and with their cooperation, the VHP is giving this campaign a nationwide form. Through initiatives like ‘Sant samvad’, this work will become even more widespread.”

During this tour, detailed discussions took place with saints from various sects on topics such as religious awakening, social harmony, religious conversion, and organizational strengthening. The saints assured their active cooperation in societal awakening through their discourses and enlightenment, as well as in the Council’s initiatives.

Alok Kumar also stated that due to the growing influence of religious awakening, attraction towards one’s original cultural roots is increasing in society, and in the coming times, the efforts for homecoming will gain further momentum.
