NAGPUR: Unless people think beyond self, peace cannot be established through any kind of agreements. This has been experienced by the world for over 2,000 years. The sustainable efforts to establish peace are based on values, discipline and unity. The human being must start thinking over sustainable means of establishing and maintaining peace, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat while addressing a gathering during Bhoomipujan of the new office of the Vishva Handu Parishad in Nagpur on March 20, 2026.
With the growing war to prove dominance in the world, Bharat has a responsibility to stop the struggle by promoting peace, a humanitarian approach and brotherhood, he said.
Bharat has scientific traditional knowledge based on values and unity. Religious books should not be considered a source of knowledge; they should be adopted and practised. Society, together, based on traditional Bharatiya knowledge and spirituality, is necessary for society world over, Dr Bhagwat said.
“Several countries saying only Bharat can bring an end to ongoing war,” he said.
Dr Bhagwat added that selfish interests and the desire for dominance are the root causes of conflicts in the world, asserting that lasting peace can only be achieved through unity, discipline and adherence to dharma.
He pointed out that issues such as religious intolerance, forced conversions and notions of superiority and inferiority still persist globally.
Emphasising Bharat’s philosophical outlook, Dr Bhagwat said the country’s ancient wisdom teaches that all beings are interconnected.
He urged a shift in global thinking from conflict and competition towards cooperation and harmony, adding that even modern scientific thought is gradually aligning with this perspective.
