NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Delhi University unit, staged a strong protest on March 20 outside the Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW) against the decision to exclude students of the School of Open Learning (SOL) from the university’s job fair. ABVP believes that denying SOL students participation in the job fair is discriminatory and against students’ interests. SOL students are an integral part of the university and deserve equal opportunities.
It is noteworthy that Delhi University is organising a centralised job fair for students on March 20, 2026. However, according to the university’s guidelines, SOL students were deemed ineligible to participate. In response, ABVP launched a protest and submitted a memorandum to the Dean of Students’ Welfare. Dean Prof. Ranjan Tripathi assured the students that all SOL students who wish to attend the job fair will be allowed to participate, and such issues will not arise in the future.

ABVP Delhi University Unit Secretary Akshay Pratap Singh stated that the university’s decision was extremely unfortunate and unjust. He emphasised that SOL students are equally talented and denying them employment opportunities is detrimental to their future. He further added that ABVP will not tolerate any form of discrimination. He welcomed the administration’s decision to allow SOL students to participate in the job fair, calling it a victory for the student community.
