NEW DELHI: Condemning the averments of NBCC against RSS and VHP, the International President of Vishva Hindu Parishad and Senior Advocate Alok Kumar on March 18 said that it is a likely attempt to create enmity between different sections of the Bharatiya Society. We have seen a statement issued by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) condemning an alleged ‘Assam Rifles raid’ on Samziuram Baptist Church in Nagaland. Completely out of context, the statement accuses the RSS and VHP as organisations “that promote and ignites violence and justify such actions”. Interestingly, the statement does not assign any role to the RSS or the VHP in the alleged incident, nor does it claim that either justified it, he said.
The VHP President said in a statement that it is well known to everyone that RSS and VHP are patriotic and law-abiding organisations. They work to unite the Hindu Society towards positive social service missions, particularly for the scheduled castes, tribes, and other needy segments of the society.
We are informed that the local pastor and village authority have officially certified that no harassment or damage has been caused by ‘Assam Rifle’ during the operation, he added.
Alok Kumar also said that the NBCC statement appears to be a mischievous and dishonest attempt to escalate a routine security operation into a religious and ideological controversy. The references to RSS and VHP are unrelated to the event in question and were likely inserted to frame the narrative politically or communally.
