Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the fourth day of the Bharat AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, expressing pride in Bharat’s contribution to the AI revolution. “Happiness for all, welfare for all” is the revolution’s standard, he claimed and the nation is setting the standard.

Current strengths and way forward

From 2024 to 2030, the global AI market is expected to expand at an astounding 37 per cent annual rate, indicating a significant shift in economies around the world. Bharat stands out in this trend due to its quick adoption of AI, thus investors looking to get exposure to AI-driven growth should keep a close eye on Bharat’s AI revolution. The workforce’s confidence about AI, deliberate government initiatives and private sector investments are some of the main drivers behind Bharat’s rapid adoption of AI.

These factors produce a high-growth AI environment that would be challenging to duplicate elsewhere, indicating that Bharat might reap significant business and economic benefits from the AI boom. Thanks to PM Modi’s inspiring leadership, Bharat is experiencing a stunning revolution in artificial intelligence. For the first time in Bharatiya history, the government is actively creating an AI ecosystem with reasonably priced computing power, GPUs and research possibilities.

AI is no longer restricted to a select few or controlled by multinational IT companies in Bharat, unlike in the past. The Modi government is creating a truly fair playing field by providing top-notch AI infrastructure to schools, businesses, and innovators through forward-thinking legislation. The nation’s AI ecosystem is being strengthened by initiatives like the Bharat AI Mission and the creation of Centers of Excellence for AI, which are opening the door for innovation and independence in this vital field. These initiatives support the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047, which is for Bharat to emerge as a major AI powerhouse in the world by utilizing cutting-edge technology for societal advancement, governance and economic prosperity.

Bharat leads the world in the penetration of AI skills: With a score of 2.8, Bharat leads the world in AI skill penetration, surpassing both the US (2.2) and Germany (1.9), according to the Stanford AI Index 2024. Since 2016, Bharat’s concentration of AI talent has increased by 263 per cent, making it a significant hub for AI. Bharat also scores higher than the US (1.2) and Israel (0.9) in terms of AI Skill Penetration for Women, with a score of 1.7.

AI Talent Hubs: According to Wheebox’s Bharat Skills Report 2024, the country’s AI sector will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 45 per cent to reach USD 28.8 billion by 2025. Bharat is among the top five fastest-growing AI talent hubs, along with Singapore, Finland, Ireland, and Canada, thanks to a 14-fold rise in the number of workers with AI skills between 2016 and 2023. By 2026, it is anticipated that Bharat would need one million AI specialists.

Businesses Making AI Investments an objective: 80 per cent of Bharatiya businesses, compared to 75 per cent globally, view AI as a fundamental strategic objective, according to BCG. Furthermore, 69 per cent intend to boost their tech spending in 2025, with one-third devoting more than USD 25 million to AI projects.

Bharat’s AI Economy is Growing Quickly: The BCG-NASSCOM Report 2024 projects that the AI market in Bharat would expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25–35 per cent, highlighting the technology’s potential for innovation and employment development. AI is creating new opportunities in data science, machine learning, and AI-driven applications while also automating repetitive labor.

Bharat is home to more than 520 tech incubators and accelerators, making it the third-largest country in the world for active programs. In order to meet the changing needs of Bharatiya entrepreneurs, 42 per cent of these were founded within the last five years. T-Hub MATH and other AI-focused accelerators offer vital guidance in product creation, company planning, and scalability. Early in 2024, MATH provided support to more than 60 firms, five of which were actively seeking investment, underscoring Bharat’s expanding AI innovation scene.

Private companies, including startups and well-established businesses, are investing in AI research and development in tandem with the government’s enthusiasm. This innovation-friendly environment is the result of the public and private sectors coming together.

There are more than 1,800 Global Capability Centers (GCCs), 500 of which are AI-focused. Revenue growth was recorded by 78 per cent of AI-using SMBs. Bharat’s technology industry is expected to generate over USD 280 billion in revenue and employ over 6 million people in coming years. In Maharashtra, AI-powered crop advising pilots increased yield efficiency by 10 per cent to 15 per cent. AI-based TB screening systems, such as Qure.ai, are utilized for early detection in national health missions. Through programs like Digital Bharat, Make in Bharat, and AI for All, the Bharatiya government has been actively promoting the use of AI.
