“It took a hundred years to establish the Sangh. Favourable circumstances have been steadily increasing over the past 20 years, but before that, the entire period was marked by neglect and opposition. Swayamsevaks had to carry forward the work in very difficult conditions”, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat while addressing a Nagara Ekatrikaran of Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment on February 27, 2026.
He further said that in its hundred-year journey, the condition of Sangh has changed, not its direction, and it is on this basis that it has earned the trust of society. After concluding his Punjab visit, Dr Mohan Bhagwat arrived in Ambala, Haryana, on February 27, Friday for a two-day visit lasting until February 28. On the first day of his Haryana tour, he guided the swayamsevaks at the ‘Tri Nagar Tarun Swayamsevak Ektrikaran’ organised at the ground of Police DAV School. On the dais were Prant Sanghchalak Pratap Singh, Vibhag Sanghchalak Ramakant, and Zila Sanghchalak Pradeep Kheda.
Through an example, he explained the importance of Sangh values and cautioned against the feeling of arrogance that may arise in favourable circumstances. He also narrated the story of three real brothers deeply devoted to their mother and a queen. In both instances, he clarified the aspects on which a person must focus while fulfilling his duties and objectives, so that the outcomes benefit not only oneself but also society and the nation.
He said that the increasing scale of Sangh programmes today is a pleasing sight and is the result of society’s blessings and collective effort. However, he emphasised the need for introspection. Greater caution is required now, as people are observing the Sangh from a perspective of critical review. This is because over the past hundred years, the Sangh has progressed with a distinct methodology, conduct, and value system.
More than one thousand swayamsevaks from Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment attended the programme. Expected swayamsevaks in the age group of 15 to 40 years, along with 40 others engaged in arrangements, participated in the event. For the swayamsevaks of Ambala, this Haryana visit of the Sarsanghchalak was special, as he had last visited Ambala 20 years ago for a Hindu Sammelan. On February 27, 2026, he again attended the ‘Tri Nagar Tarun Swayamsevak Ektrikaran’ programme.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with more than one thousand swayamsevaks attending in ganvesh in his presence—an occasion that came after nearly 40 years for Ambala. On the second day of the visit, February 28, Dr Bhagwat will participate in a gathering at the auditorium of Kurukshetra University, where academicians, retired administrative officers, and judges will be present.
