Trump also cited what he claimed was praise from Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, suggesting he had saved “35 million” people and portraying himself as central to de-escalating military tensions.
The video quickly became a source of satire online. Many users took to X to ridicule Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition, posting comments such as “Burnol for Pakistan and Opposition” and “This might finally be the moment when the Indian opposition stops believing Trump.”
However, some posts described Trump’s remark as deliberate rather than a slip of the tongue. Senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani took to X to share the Donald Trump video. According to him, the single line — “Pakistan PM would have died…” — itself validates the success of Operation Sindoor. He wrote that Trump’s remark shows the operation was effective. In his view, the strike put strong pressure on Pakistan and forced it to step back. He also criticised the Indian Opposition, saying it weakened the country’s unity during the crisis. He also added- “India doesn’t need certificates. The outcome is the certificate: Pakistan needed outside talking points, outside intervention claims, and outside face-savers. But this is the New India that imposed cost and forced recalibration.”

However, a section of social media users has treated Trump’s remark as a serious and deliberate statement rather than a slip of the tongue. Some of them argue that the US President was clearly referring to a life-threatening escalation and not exaggerating for effect.
Many targeted the Opposition Congress party, which had earlier described Operation Sindoor as a failure. According to these users, Trump’s statement reinforces the view that the situation was far more critical than portrayed by the Opposition, and that his intervention played a decisive role in ensuring that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s life — and potentially millions of others — was not put at risk.
