The Moradabad police have arrested Shahrukh, the son of Amroha Congress leader Mansoor Salmani, in Uttar Pradesh in connection with a case related to alleged love jihad. The case was filed by a Hindu woman, who accused him of concealing his identity and coercing her into a relationship and marriage. The accused was produced before a court and subsequently sent to jail.
According to the complainant, Shahrukh initially introduced himself as “Ashish” when he first contacted her, and she developed a relationship with him, trusting his false identity.
The woman told police that after gaining her trust, Shahrukh engaged in physical relations with her and secretly took photographs and videos. She alleged that he later used these images and videos to threaten and coerce her into marriage.
SP City Ran Vijay Singh stated that the woman and her family approached the Katghar police station and filed a formal complaint. During the initial investigation, police confirmed that Shahrukh is from Gajraula and had been using the name Ashish on his social media accounts.
Police added that Shahrukh’s online profile and false identity facilitated his contact with the woman, a Hindu resident of Ramganga Vihar in Moradabad. After verifying the information provided by the complainant, authorities registered a case and took Shahrukh into custody. The SP confirmed that the accused has been arrested and sent to jail, and further investigation is ongoing to examine digital evidence and other aspects of the case.
