Guwahati: The Assamese Yuva Manch, Jatiya Sangrami Sena, and two local civil bodies have launched a statewide campaign to drive out illegal Bangladeshi Miya Muslims from Assam. The groups have installed large hoardings in the upper Assam districts to warn the public about long-term consequences if the issue is ignored. The hoardings proclaim: “Chase away Miya and save Assam from becoming Bangladesh.”
Assamese Yuva Manch leader Akash Saikia urged immediate action, stating, “If we awaken today, our land will be saved; otherwise, it will become Bangladesh in two decades.” He described Bangladeshi Miyas as “thieves, smugglers, drug peddlers, cow smugglers, and love jihadis,” calling them a threat to indigenous people and demanding the government expel all illegal intruders. Jatiya Sangrami Sena leader Situ Barua declared, “Not a single Miya will be allowed to stay in upper Assam.” He claimed they have already become a majority in 12 districts of lower and central Assam and vowed to prevent a repeat in upper Assam. “Assam is for Assamese—no Miya will be allowed to invade further; they must go to Bangladesh,” Barua said. He added that the state belongs to icons like Chaolung Sukaphaa, Srimant Sankardev, and Madhabdev, accusing the Congress party of dreaming to turn Assam into “Miya land.” The anti-Miya mission will continue, he affirmed.
Meanwhile, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he doesn’t care about the pro-Miya lobby like Harsh Mander. I am not afraid of people who live on Miya-Muslim politics and those who come from Bangladesh or the intruders, cm added.
Earlier on January 30, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressing a public meeting in Dibrugarh, Assam, said that Congress governments, by allowing infiltration into Assam, turned it into a weapon for vote-bank politics to gain power. He said that the Assam government has stopped the process of changing demographics and has freed 1 lakh 26 thousand acres of land from infiltrators.
Home Minister Shah said that under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma, we will evict every single infiltrator from Assam. He said that infiltrators cannot benefit Assam or the country in any way because they are changing our demographics and also pose a threat to the country’s security. He said that if demographic change is not stopped, Assam may face difficulties in the coming days, and only our government can stop it. Home Minister Amit Shah said that earlier, Assam’s borders were open to infiltrators, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Assam government together have stopped infiltrators from entering Assam’s borders. Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Congress party, for the sake of vote banks, had handed over the sacred land Satras of Srimanta Sankardev to infiltrators, which the Himanta government of Assam is now making infiltrator-free.
