The Ministry of External Affairs severely condemned the incident of trespassing and vandalism targeting the Indian Embassy in Croatia. Spokesperson of the MEA Randhir Jaiswal, cited the Vienna convention and hailed the importance of protecting the diplomatic missions. He asserted that protection and security to the diplomatic spaces is “inviolable” as per the protocols of the Vienna convention.

In this direction, India filed a strong protest and criticised the trespassing and vandalism targeting the Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia by certain anti-India and radical groups. “Under the Vienna Convention, diplomatic premises are inviolable and must be protected. Accordingly, we have taken up the matter strongly with Croatian authorities, both in New Delhi and in Zagreb and asked them to hold the perpetrators accountable for their reprehensible and illegal actions”, MEA reiterated in the press release.
“Such actions also speak of the character and motives of those behind them and law enforcement authorities everywhere would do well to take note of them”, the MEA statement thus made a sharp statement criticising the anti-India actions in Croatia. As per the reports, the Indian Embassy in Croatia is vandalised by certain Khalistani elements with illicit motives. Croatia is a country in Eastern Europe and the attack on the Indian Embassy comes at a strategically critical juncture when the Presidents of the European Council and European Commission is visiting India for the Republic Day celebrations and when both India and the EU are set to seal a historic Free Trade Agreement(FTA).
