GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted that India is a “Hindu Rashtra” and expressed unwavering confidence that the nation’s Prime Minister will always be a Hindu, citing the country’s civilizational roots.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a government program, CM Sarma emphasised that while the Constitution imposes no religious restrictions on the Prime Minister’s post, India’s inherent Hindu character ensures it will remain occupied by a Hindu leader.
“There is no constitutional bar. Anybody can become the Prime Minister of India,” Sarma said. He quickly added, however, that the nation’s foundational identity as a Hindu civilisation guarantees this outcome.
On the other hand, CM Sarma said he will make public all the detailed findings of the SIT constituted to investigate Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his British wife, Elizabeth Colburn, regarding their alleged links to certain Pakistani nationals.
“We will reveal all details of the SIT investigation against Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh and others in January itself.
The revelations will be damning, and further investigation by Central agencies will bring out the full picture of the heinous acts, the CM said.
CM Sarma claimed that this is a bigger conspiracy and it will be referred to the Union Home Ministry for further investigation. “ The people of Assam must know the truth. Our SIT team has limitations; we can’t even check someone’s email and mobile. What we have found is just the beginning. When the case is transferred to an agency like the NIA, they will properly investigate the conspiracy. But what I can say is that the whole episode is very dangerous and a huge conspiracy against India.”, CM Sarma added.
Earlier, CM Sarma said that “During the course of this exhaustive investigation, the SIT has unearthed startling facts which point towards a larger conspiracy aimed at undermining the sovereignty of our nation.” Furthermore, the investigation sheds light on how the Ministry of the Interior, Government of Pakistan, facilitated MP Gaurav Gogoi’s visit. CM Sarma said, “ MP Gogoi is a Pakistani agent. He is purely a Pakistani agent. If he has guts, file a defamation case against me.” He further said that Gaurav Gogoi is a planted person by Pakistan and ISI. “ He is a planted person by Pakistan. I am saying this as the capacity of a CM.”
