In 1974, the American Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, compelled Saudi Arabia to sell its Crude Oil only in exchange for U.S. dollars and, in return, guaranteed full military protection. This was the beginning of Petrodollars. The United States operates its entire economy through this system. The survival of the U.S. dollar is the primary reason the United States conducted “Operation Southern Spear”. While America cites reasons like Drug Supply/Trafficking, Narco/Jehadi Terrorism and Need to Save Democracy, it would not be wrong to say that this operation was carried out because Venezuela shook core of American “Petrodollars System” which has been in place for the last Sixty years or so, was reigning the World and is now Threatened as it is beginning to become Unstable. America is desperately trying to keep the World’s Economic Reins in its hands. As of today, geologists worldwide estimate that Venezuela has 310 billion barrels, Saudi Arabia 220 billion barrels, Iran 250 billion barrels, America 120 billion barrels, Russia 100 billion barrels, and Qatar 170 billion barrels of Oil Reserves, firmly tucked in their Soil. To the chagrin of America, Venezuela has been accepting Euros, Pounds, Rubles, Yuan, Yen, and many other currencies in exchange for oil since 2018. She is desperately seeking membership in the BRICS Organisation.
Venezuelan Heavy and extra-heavy Crude Oil Reserves are primarily located in the Orinoco Oil Belt’s eastern region. The cost of Upgrading, Blending, Technically Refining, and exporting her abundant Crude Oil Reserves is enormous. Venezuelan Economy is basically dependent on Oil Exports. The state-owned oil company PDVSA’s oil production was Three Million Barrels per day. Over time, due to Deficit Investment, Mismanagement, Infrastructure Decay, Exodus of Skilled Workers, and International Sanctions, production has declined to less than One Million Barrels per day.Furthermore, American sanctions have hampered Financing, Technology Transfers, and Export Routes. Venezuela’s Oil Reserves highlight her Geopolitical Importance. Venezuela is a founding member of OPEC, and its strategic value within the Oil Cartel remains intact. Due to American sanctions, converting her vast oil reserves into Sustainable Economic Recovery is a Challenging Task. Easy availability of Venezuelan Heavy Crude oil could increase and cheapen the World Oil Supply. This could cause the global oil market to slip out of the control of Middle East oil-producing Countries and America.
Oil prices and currency used for transactions depend on who controls the Oil Supply Flow. If the global oil market slips out of American control, the strength of the Dollar in the global energy market could be jeopardized and this is unacceptable to America. According to President Donald Trump, Maduro leads a Drug Cartel and smuggles drugs into America. However, it would not be wrong to say that the real reason behind this American action against Venezuela is that, for more than two decades, Venezuela has been operating outside the purview of American Oil Policy.
The American military had been preparing for and conducting reconnaissance for operations in Venezuela and related Latin American Countries for the past several months. Since June 2025, America has been attacking Venezuelan, Colombian and Cuban Drug Cartel Boats in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. On 05 January 2026, America warned these nations that if they did not comply, they would face Decisive Action similar to that taken against Venezuela. America had deployed numerous warships in the Caribbean Sea for Military Action against Venezuela and other nations. The USS Gerald R Ford and USS Iwo Jima Strike Groups deployed in the Caribbean Sea have 16 Aircraft Carriers/Warships,/Submarines and over 150 Fighter Jets. In addition to the ships’ crews, these Groups have 15,000 Delta Force Soldiers/ Marines from the 160th Night Stalkers Special Operations Aviation Regiment and Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta. These Onboard Units have Expeditionary Air Mobile capabilities. In addition, there are 5,000 Green Beret soldiers stationed in Puerto Rico for support of these Strike Forces.
Between 1:30 AM and 3:15 AM on the night of January 3/4, 2026,150 American Fighter Jets/Helicopters and 3,000 Special Forces Soldiers launched a swift and surprise Military Attack on four Venezuelan cities. While America suffered no casualties except for some trivial damage to one of its helicopters. However, forty Venezuelan Soldiers and thirty-two Cuban Military Technicians were killed. The president of a Sovereign Nation was abducted and taken to America. Operation Southern Spear is a prime example of Cyber Fifth Domain Supremacy. As a result of this “Kinetic Cyber Synchronization,” more than 150 aircraft and helicopters safely reached their targets, crossing the impenetrable airspace of the South American Subcontinent without encountering a Single Venezuelan missile. Electric Power Supply throughout the Region was shut down by Logic Bombs. The Guri Dam Network Grid was neutralised through a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System. America had launched a Cyber Attack on Venezuela using Cyber Malware, “Nitro Zeus” may be on the Day of the Operation or Well in Advance. This swift and surprise attack totally crippled the Venezuelan Military Communication Network, precisely at 1:30 AM that night.
This was a golden opportunity for the operations of the American Delta Force Soldiers. This shutdown forced the Venezuelan S-300 Anti-Missile System to cease operations. It took three to five minutes,a boot-up Lag,for their Backup Generators to start. During that period, American aircraft and helicopters crossed the Sea and entered Venezuelan airspace. All VM Radars of the Venezuelan S-300 Anti-Missile System were jammed using American “Suter Network Technology.” This American network infiltrated the Venezuelan Radars Network and became an alternative to their System Administrator. This cyberattack not only disabled the radars but also prevented any aircraft images from appearing on the Screens in front of the Venezuelan/Cuban Radar Operators. While 150 American aircraft and helicopters were operating freely in Venezuelan airspace, the radar screens showed “Everything Normal.”
The Venezuelan Military did not take any action against the attack because their Computer Screens were blank; nothing appeared on them. And then, no one can fire at something he cannot see. The American Cyber Command’s “Kill Switches” in these specific denial-of-service attacks completely disabled the Venezuelan encrypted Military Bandwidth and Communication Systems, including specific fibre-optic lines. It prevented President Nicholas Maduro, who was at Fort Tuna, from contacting his Generals. Due to this jamming, when local Military Commanders heard explosions, they could not receive “Fire Orders” from Headquarters because all phones/phone lines/data links were down. The Electric Blackout, Computer Spoofing, and the disabling of Command, Control, and Communication systems enabled American Delta Force Teams to operate freely and easily.
This operation was not successful due to an hour-long Action Alone, but rather to seven to eight years of preparation by Americans. According to Computer Experts, this was possible because the CIA had, at some point, modified the chips in the computer routers and servers purchased by Venezuela. Unbeknownst to them, Venezuela had purchased “Compromised New Cyber Security Equipment.” These resources were likely activated after receiving a “Specific wake up Call” on 03/04 January, 2026. In this operation, only the “Helicopter Extraction” of the Venezuelan President and his wife is visible to the outside World, but the Cyber Eco System practised and enforced by the American CIA/Military remains invisible/behind the scenes. As a result of the electronic jamming, Venezuelan Fire Brigades, Armoured Units, and other components remained Largely Immobile, losing their Defensive Response Capabilities. The intense Electronic interference and multi-domain attacks during the ensuing cyberattack rendered the Venezuelan Military Command, Control, and Communication Systems ineffective. In the operational cycle, intelligence. This operation clearly highlighted the need for real-time intelligence and a Cohesive, Flexible System to counter a Military capable of integrating Electronic Warfare, Combat Air Transport, and Special Operations.
Following the American invasion of Venezuela, Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores, are in the custody of the American Drug Enforcement Agency on charges of illegal Drug/Arms Trafficking, Human Rights Violations and other related offences. According to Venezuelan Vice President (present Acting President) Delcy Rodríguez, “America must provide proof of the well being of the President and first Lady.” According to Venezuelan Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino, “Venezuela will Not Negotiate, will Not Surrender, and ultimately we will be Victorious.” It would not be wrong to say that these two statements are a prelude to a wider conflict between these two Nations. However, the reported American Announcement on 07 January regarding Venezuela’s agreement to sell three million barrels of Crude Oil to the United States belies the present Venezuelan Government’s stance. Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran have explicitly condemned the American action against Venezuela, calling it “Armed Aggression.”
Venezuelan President Maduro had close ties with China, Russia and Iran, but he could not get their help when he needed it. At the meeting of Latin American and Caribbean Nations held after the American Military Action in Venezuela, all but Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Panama, and Chile condemned the action. The European Union could not decide whether or not to condemn American Action. India is yet to give any reaction/ comment, but according to reliable sources, it has expressed concern over this development in South America. BRICS members are concerned because America has given them an indirect message: “Keep away from De Dollarization, Challenge the Dollar, and we will bomb you.”
Venezuelan Vice President Ms Rodríguez does not heed American threats. America, which is ready to do anything for its own self-interest, had used the CIA to orchestrate a coup against the Venezuelan Government in 2002. Now, the United States seeks to install Ms Maria Corina Machado, who opposed President Hugo Chávez and is a potential recipient of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, as the New President. In the current situation, doing so would require America to confront the pro-Rodríguez/Maduro Military and millions of their followers. Defence Analysts all over predict that American Military Pressure would strengthen the existing Venezuelan Power Structure, empower Maduro’s supporters, the Military would challenge America-backed successors, and Loyalists would continue the Maduro Regime in Venezuela. If this happens, the American dream of controlling Venezuelan Oil, which has the world’s largest Oil Reserves, would be shattered.
On January 2 2026, Chinese Special Envoy for Latin American Affairs/ Countries, Qiu Xiaoki, was in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas. Venezuela is a crucial energy supplier for China, providing 40 per cent of her Crude Oil needs. Therefore, China was among the first to condemn American aggression and declared its full support for Venezuela. According to Russia, this is an American Armed Intervention and State Aggression because this region is a “Zone of Peace”. Latin American countries have demanded that this aggression be discussed at the United Nations Security Council, which is scheduled to meet the week ending 10 January 2026. According to Defence Analysts, China or Russia will not provide direct military assistance or active military intervention in Venezuela, at least for the time being. For them, Venezuela is a “Testing Ground” to judge/see what America will do hereafter and how far she would go to secure Economic and Strategic Resources, she so desperately requires.
By contrast, in the United States, this was a Judicial Campaign undertaken by her Law Enforcement Officials with the support of the Military. According to America, protecting the American people from Illegal importation of Drugs/Arms by Terrorists and preventing its devastating consequences is justified because it is tantamount to an anti-American Armed Attack. However, as per International Law, only a Kinetic Attack carried out by Military or similar means qualifies as a Trigger for self-defence. However, this was a major military operation conducted against military targets in and around the capital, Caracas. In this operation, American Special Forces forcibly abducted a sitting President. This was a clear violation of Venezuelan Sovereignty and the UN Charter.
The American Military will likely remain in Venezuela until the situation normalises, ie until their preferred person is in Power. But given the volatile and explosive situation there and support by the Military to Maduro, the question arises whether America can afford to get Bogged Down in a long-running Conflict in Venezuela, a la Vietnam style. If America gets entangled in Venezuela, there is no doubt that it will limit American Power Projection elsewhere, reducing the focus and resources needed for Strategic/Economic Planning in the Middle East and for a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
This American action of invading Venezuela involves the Use of Force and Economic Pressure in strategically valuable Regions. This path towards achieving the ambition of a Nation to expand its territory would be open to strategically strong Sovereign Nations. Iran could invade Israel; China could invade India/Hong Kong/Philippines/ Taiwan; Russia could invade Ukraine/Europe; America could invade Afghanistan/Iran Cambodia could invade Thailand; Britain could invade Argentina; and Israel could invade Lebanon/Jordan/Gaza Strip and the stronger Nations would legitimize it. United Nations prevents such actions.
According to Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, “All members shall refrain in their International Relations from the Threats or Use of Force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any other State. Such actions are inconsistent with the purpose of the United Nations, and everyone must refrain from them. According to Experts of International Law, American action of 03/04 January, 2026 is a blatant violation of this Article. This American invasion of Venezuela would only be legal if her actions received support of the UN Security Council and/or If she can prove that it was an Act of Self Defense and/or If the legitimate Government of Venezuela consented to this intervention. In reality,American action in Venezuela has not been ratified by/received permission from UN Security Council, nor has America been a victim of an Aggressive Action by Venezuela nor has Venezuela Requested America for any Military Intervention. On the contrary, the American President, on his own, has Unilaterally ordered American Intervention in Venezuela, targeting the Current Head of that State. Therefore, according to Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, this action falls under the category of “Unnecessary use of Force.”
According to President Donald Trump, their Aggressive Military Intervention in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, has been successful, and America will “Control/Manage” Venezuela until a fresh/new Government is established there. America has blocked all sea routes to Venezuela since 04 January and the first casualty of this Naval Block is seizure of a Russian Oil Tanker in Venezuelan waters by the American Coast Guard on 07 January,2026. Impact of this action is yut to be seen.
Consequent to the success of Operation Spear, President Donald Trump announced that America will govern Venezuela and bring about a Political Transition or Regime Change. President Donald Trump made the announcement. According to experts, the main reason behind this declaration is that America desperately wants the Oil, valuable Minerals, and Natural Resources of Latin American Nations. After conducting a swift and successful Operation Southern Spear in Venezuela, America is preparing to seize Greenland, a Strategically Important Location in the Arctic, and will use Military Force, if necessary, because control of Greenland is essential for her National Security and to deter her adversaries in the Arctic region. President Trump stated on 06 January 2026, that decisions regarding Greenland would be made within the next Two Months.
As per her past records, America can go to any lengths for herself interest. For this, she has Three formidable Organizations: Pentagon for Military Operations, CIA for External Operations, and FBI for Internal Affairs, which probably have no parallels in the World. It is on the strength of these three that President Trump is implementing an “Aggressive Foreign Policy” in his Second term. Anywhere in the world, through these three organizations, he empowers Disgruntled Groups to instigate revolutions and installs Pro American Governments/ Puppets. If a revolution fails, Direct Military Action is taken, either directly or through the local Army. So far, America has failed only in Iran and North Korea.To compel her Enemy/ Unfavorable/Disobedient Nation “To Toe her Line”, America attempts/acts in following Sequence: One) Force the Rulers to make mistakes; Two) Attempt to remove the unwanted Government through Domestic unrest/Protests/ unarmed Rebellion/Civil War; Three) If this fails, create a Warlike Situation with a neighboring Country; Four) Depose the Rulers; and Five) Bring about a Desired Change of Power through Direct Action.
As far India; our probable first loss due to this American action would be,stoppage of supply of Crude Oil from San Cristobal Oil Ltd from Venezuela’s Orinoco Oil Belt. ONGC Videsh Limited,a PSU of the Indian Government holds 40 percent stake in this Venezuelan Oil Company. Since 2024, this company has been providing India with Crude Oil as a Dividend, which was/is not approved/to the liking of America. This dislike is due to the fact that it exposes the hollowness of the American claim that India is financially supporting Russia by exclusively buying oil from it. Reportedly, about 18 per cent of our oil requirement is met through this Dividend in kind.
Trump/America’s intention in this context is to bring India to heel by any means necessary. He can do anything for that. Earlier, America had removed Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who refused to hand over St Martin’s Island in the Bay of Bengal to America. She did it with help of Pakistan through Engineered Protests by Fundamentalist and appointed a Nobel laureate, Muhammad Yunus, as an Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh. Currently, President Trump is increasing pressure on India using Trade Sanctions. For the past four five years, there have been efforts of American Administration, through Vice President Kamala Harris and her cronies under President Joe Biden, to destabilize the present Government in India. This is continuing in the second term of President Trump. The efforts were and are still formulated in the form of violent Protests by Youth/Labor/Farmers; bloody Protests against CAA; alleged Irregularities in various Election Results; Inflationary Trends; Unemployment: Operation Sindoor and most recently, Atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. Based on this, continuous attempts are being made to blame and overthrow/change the present Government. Before launching the final covert attack on India, American efforts in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal on similar lines have been successful. Hence,the same pattern is being implemented in India. Opponents of our Central Government are being instigated by Trump/George Soros combine to achieve their nefarious Aim.
In the 2024 general elections, Present Government had to be content with only 240 seats in the Lok Sabha.Following this, MPs/ people are being incited using False narratives/Videos/ You Tubers/Journalists and influencers of D Deep State. The large scale withdrawal of nominations/unopposed elections for forthcoming Municipal Elections in Maharashtra is part of this ploy.It would not be wrong to say that it will be Repeated Across the Country till Deep State succeeds. In April/May 2025, the Pahalgam Massacre and the subsequent Indo Pak Conflict were imposed on India. But since it ended in just four days, now Bangladesh/ America/China/Pakistan are targeting the Northeastern States and the Siliguri Corridor, creating unrest/instability in that Region.
If India conducts tests of nuclear weapons/Long range Missiles; Pakistan, China, and America, along with many Opposition Leaders/ Progressives/Intellectuals/ Human Rights Activists in our own country, condemn us. Following the success of Operation Southern Spear in Venezuela, some opposition leaders and progressive intellectuals in India have started wondering, “Will America soon abduct Modi in the same way?” This shows a divisive and defeatist mentality on part of such people. When a nation has such abundance of “Jaychands and Meer Jaffer” assisted by the Deep State,one has to be careful. In such a situation, anything can happen. Therefore, if America/China/ Pakistan/Bangladesh is thinking of or dares to attack India, la Venezuela, due to the invitation/instigation of such Traitors, it will be imperative for us to be Strategically and Militarily prepared to counter it. And for that, lessons drawn from Operation Southern Spear would technically be very valuable.
