PATNA: Bihar police on December 22 presented its yearly report and claimed that the state has witnessed a dip in serious crimes like murder and loot and has become almost free from Naxalism.

Addressing a presser on Monday, Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar, ADG law and order Pankaj Darad and Upper Chief Secretary of Home Department Arvind Kumar Chaudhary stated that the state has registered a notable dip in serious crimes.

“The state has registered 7.7 per cent dip in murder related cases in 2025 while the figures pertaining to dacoity cases have decreased by over 24 per cent. Incidents of rioting has also fallen by around 18 per cent,” informed the officials. They added that the outcome is result of the strategies adopted for crime control in the state.

According to details shared by the officials, around 3.35 lakh criminals have been arrested for their involvement in serious crimes like murder, rape, loot and kidnapping in 2025. Other than this, process for confiscating properties of as many as 70 criminals is also underway in the state.

They further informed that the government has identified 1419 criminals whose properties will be seized and 405 cases related to such criminals have already been sent to courts, marking a significant step towards weakening the mafias economically.

State almost free from Naxalism

DGP Kumar informed that police has achieved significant success in Naxal-affected areas and no districts of the state remain affected by Naxal-insurgency. The development marks a significant achievement for state police and security forces as multiple districts of the state were previously marred by Maoist insurgency.

Officials stated that the police, based on technical evidence, have investigated more than 100 cases of cyber fraud in the state. In terms of illegal liquor sale, the police have seized over 33 lakh litres of country-made and foreign liquor, alongside arresting individuals involved with the illegal liquor sale business.

Speaking about women’s safety, DGP Kumar informed that ‘Abhya Brigade’ has been started to tackle molesters in public places. He added that a proposal to procure 2000 scooties in next year has already been sent to the government and women police personnel will be deputed near sensitive points near schools and colleges.

The officials emphasised that crime control, action on mafias and security of masses are the top priority of the government, and steps will be taken for effective, transparent and technology-based policing in the coming times.
