NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a large-scale protest on December 19 against serious irregularities observed during the recently conducted semester examinations at the University of Delhi. During the protest, ABVP submitted a detailed memorandum to the University authorities demanding immediate rectification of the issues and strict action against the officials responsible for these lapses.

It is noteworthy that students encountered multiple issues during the semester examinations. At several examination centres, question papers were not provided on time, causing unnecessary delays and student panic. Moreover, widespread confusion regarding the marking scheme, typographical errors, and even incorrect questions were reported in several papers. These grave lapses resulted in mental stress, anxiety, and inconvenience for thousands of students.

ABVP had earlier raised objections and protested during the examination period itself. Today’s protest reiterated those concerns, strongly demanding a complete overhaul of the examination system, protection of students’ academic interests, and accountability of negligent officials. ABVP has demanded that the university administration take immediate corrective measures and ensure a transparent, reliable, and student-friendly examination system to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Sarthak Sharma, State Secretary, ABVP Delhi, said: Delhi University is among the most prestigious educational institutions in the country, yet repeated negligence in the conduct of examinations is playing with the future of students. Delayed question papers, incorrect questions, and an ambiguous evaluation system reflect a serious failure of the university administration. ABVP will continue to fight relentlessly for the rights of students until a permanent and effective solution to these examination irregularities is ensured.”
