Dharma Dhwaj at Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Refixing the cultural displacement of Lord Macaulay

The post-independent era of India has often been synonymously addressed as post-colonisation era of a free India but rare emphasis has been laid upon the conditioning influence of British Imperialism on the Indian minds. For decades, the seeds of colonial superiority were sowed and irrigated to brainwash the root customs, values, and traditions of our soil in a foul attempt to bury the great civilization models and witty, ancient manuscripts of India. There has been significant transformation towards the development of a better India but the education system for last 190 years have suffered from the dominance of English superiority which have outrightly endeavoured run down the legacy and richness of Indian teachings. In 1835, Lord Macaulay introduced English Education System to sideline the Indian traditions and promote western education to influence the very men of our country in believing the English is only urban elite. It has been seen recently in last decade, a gradual metamorphosis in tiny details of nation building that this mentality has commenced to ebb.

The establishment of Dharma Dhwaj marking the completion of Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya is a mark of a progressive Hindu mentality propelling towards an indigenous model of growth and pride. Lord Macaulay was an agent of cultural displacement who by advocating for western education model in India, replaced our traditional systems of education and reflected an image of English superiority. This shallow and flawed perception needs to change before it influences in any future generations who by virtue of Hindu Rashtra must be rightly and well-informed about Hinduism and its practices. The idea of an Indian elite should be back, with English merely a subsidiary addition to our richness as an effect of cultural influence over decades. Our Honourable Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi Ji highlighted the importance of changing the English superiority mentality in next ten years by 2035 at Ayodhya on 25th November, 2025 with a vision towards a Viksit Bharat 2047 which is not only developed in economy and technology but rich in mindset and tradition, rich in youth-led endeavours towards a nation upholding its ancient values, morals, and customs.

The completion of Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya is more than a sign of a victorious faith system; it is symbolic to the changing mentality of people and the cultural inclinations of the present government. The Modi government has seen several alike transformations in remodelling youth mentality and shaping newer education models which are culturally centric towards the rightful glory of our country. In 2022, Indian navy flag was redesigned again after 2014, marking Indian Navy’s commitment to moving away from a colonial past toward a rich maritime of heritage of its own. There have been significant sublime shifts in academic curriculum of students, with shifting focuses on cultural and historical loci of Indian legacy rather than the invader and foreign glorification. All these milestones of the present government, reflects the commitment to end colonial superiority and hone indigenous thinking patterns.

At the flag-hoisting ceremony of Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, Dr Mohan Bhagwat Ji, Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh emphasised the collective and unified struggle of several Hindus who sacrificed their lives and decades toward the Ram Mandir. He highlighted this completion as not an end-point of a cultural endeavour but as a holy commencement of a call to action of building a Bharat reclaiming its cultural heritage and civilisational identity. The flag is symbolic of faith, tradition, culture, value, civilisation and most importantly, freedom from shackles of lasting western influence. These ceremonial addresses have invoked the masses of Bharat to reaffirm the cultural identity and embrace the nation-building toward a Viksit Bharat.

Dharma Dhwajarohan will always find a sacred place in contemporary history, marking the triumph of truth and faith. It will be remembered as a critical event of years of Hindu longing and sacrifice culminating in novel shaping of Hindu Rashtra and building a Bharat free from mental colonial slavery. A Bharat with a vision of its original and ancient cultural heritage and civilisational identity driven in minds of our youth to build together a scientifically developed, economically rich and culturally right Viksit Bharat 2047.
