Bengaluru: Following the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed 12 lives, Karnataka BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has urged the Union government to adopt stringent national security measures to restore peace and prevent further terror attacks. His statement comes amid growing outrage over revelations that the explosion was allegedly linked to radical doctors connected to Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

The attack, which took place just days after a major cache of 3,000 kilograms of explosives was seized in Faridabad, has reignited nationwide concerns about homegrown radicalization and sleeper cells operating in urban centers.

Yatnal, known for his outspoken and hardline positions, took to social media platform X to press Home Minister Amit Shah for what he termed “decisive and uncompromising action” to safeguard India’s internal security. He said the blast was a wake-up call for the government to “root out extremism from its ideological base.”

Yatnal’s 12-point call for national security action

I urge the hon'ble Home Minister Aadaraneeya Shri @AmitShah Ji to immediately take the following measures to restore peace in the nation:

➦Ban all Madrasas that are Radicalizing children
➦Throw Maulanas who are preaching anti-India theories in Jail mercilessly
➦24×7…

— Basanagouda R Patil (Yatnal) (@BasanagoudaBJP) November 11, 2025

In his post, Yatnal outlined a detailed list of measures that, according to him, the Union government should implement immediately. Among his key demands were:

1. Ban all madrasas allegedly involved in radicalising youth and turning children into extremists.
2. Arrest and jail clerics (Maulanas) who preach anti-national ideologies or promote hate.
3. Keep constant surveillance on journalists, politicians, and writers who, he claimed, “show sympathy towards terrorists and their ecosystem.”
4. Delete social media accounts that amplify Pakistani propaganda or spread anti-India sentiments.
5. Implement a comprehensive citizenship registry (NRC) for Muslims to ensure transparency in citizenship records.
6. Record sermons delivered in mosques, to monitor potential hate speech or radical messaging.
7. Revoke OCI cards of Indians living abroad who promote anti-India agendas.
8. Cancel licenses of NGOs and corporations that support or fund activities hostile to India’s interests.
9. Ban halal certification bodies allegedly providing financial or logistical support to terror networks.
10. Revoke professional licenses of doctors, lawyers, or engineers found acting against national integrity.
11. Demolish properties sheltering terrorists and sleeper cells.
12. Strengthen Aadhaar verification systems to prevent identity misuse by extremists.

“Strike before the enemy does,” says Yatnal

In his concluding remarks, Yatnal stated, “The Delhi blast shows that the enemy is already among us. Before they strike again, we must act. Strike before the enemy gains ground.”

He further said that the current situation demanded “zero-tolerance” against individuals or organizations spreading extremist ideologies. “No democracy can survive if it continues to tolerate forces trying to destroy it from within,” he added.

A senior BJP leader said, “Yatnal speaks bluntly, but his concerns about sleeper cells and infiltration are valid.”
Security agencies intensify vigilance

Meanwhile, following the Delhi blast and related arrests, security agencies across major cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, have been placed on high alert. Intelligence officials are reportedly reviewing possible links between local radical networks and cross-border handlers.

Central agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB), have launched parallel probes into whether the Delhi and Faridabad incidents were part of a coordinated terror plot.
