US blocks Pak-China bid to sanction Baloch Army at UNSC over insufficient evidence, meanwhile BLA kills 13 Pak soldiers

The United States, UK and France have jointly blocked the Pakistan and China’s attempt to sanction the Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) under UNSC 1267 list, by citing that there are insufficient evidence to link the grouping as similar to Al Qaeda or ISIL. Meanwhile, the BLA has attacked a convoy of the Pakistan Army in Balochistan killing 13 soldiers, indicating the growing frustration and angst of the Balochs over Pakistan

The United States, United Kingdom and France have coordinately blocked the attempt of China and Pakistan to sanction the Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) and Majeed Brigade, the suicide wing of BLA under the UNSC 1267 list. The US and its allies have asserted that there are insufficient evidence to confirm that the BLA is similar to and operates on the lines of other terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda or ISIL.

Earlier Pakistan and China had jointly submitted a bid to sanction the Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) and its Majeed Brigade as per the norms of the United Nations Security Council. Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations had exclaimed that terrorist groups including ISIL-K, Al Qaeda, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, the Baloch Liberation Army and its Majeed Brigade are operating and initiating cross-border attacks in Pakistan from Afghanistan, thus it is vital to sanction BLA and Majeed Brigade in lines with Al Qaeda or ISIL.

Pakistan Representative to UN further reiterated that terrorism emanating from Afghanistan remains Pakistan’s primary national security threat and also urged the Taliban-government in Afghanistan to work towards the counter-terrorism goals. This act of Pakistan seems to be the biggest cover-up by Pakistan to shadow its state-sponsored terrorism. Pakistan is passing the buck on someone else after committing a crime and falsely projecting itself as a clean state, while apparently world knows the truth!

Baloch Army kills Pakistani Soldiers

Meanwhile, in Balochistan, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has attacked a convoy of the Pakistan Army, leading to the death of 13 Pakistani soldiers. The incident took place in the Dasht province of Balochistan. Incidentally, the attack has taken place on the same day when China and Pakistan was seeking to sanction the BLA and the Majeed Brigade under the UNSC 1267 list.

The repeated attack on the Pakistan Army by the BLA reflects the growing discontent and frustration of the Baloch people over Pakistan and its atrocities. Just days ago, on September 15, five Pakistani security officials were killed in the Mand region of Balochistan in a targeted Improvised Explosive Device(IED) attack. Despite rendering eye-washing speeches at global platforms and conducting mercilessly suppression, the evolving situation in Balochistan seems to be totally out of the control of Islamabad and Balochs are becoming more and more assertive with every passing day with respect to Baloch identity, freedom, sovereignty and genuine development of the region.
