Israel has intensified its investigation into the shooting incident in Jerusalem yesterday that killed six people and injured several others. Both attackers were killed. Two terrorists who arrived in a vehicle at the Ramot junction in Jerusalem opened fire on a bus stop and a bus. All those killed in the attack have been identified. It was similar to the attack carried out by Pakistani terrorists in Mumbai years ago. A soldier and a few civilians who were at the bus stop confronted the attackers. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the scene of the incident. He responded that the country is in a strong war against terrorism. The villages from which the terrorists came are now surrounded by Israeli forces. The two terrorists are Palestinians from the West Bank. Netanyahu revealed that they are from the towns of Qatanna and al-Qubaiba, southeast of Ramallah.
The Israeli prime minister added that he would destroy Hamas and release all hostages as promised earlier. At the same time, the names of the terrorists who carried out the attack have now been released. They are 21-year-old Mohammed Taha and 20-year-old Mutanna Amro. Authorities have previously said they have no criminal records. They are from villages on the outskirts of Ramallah. Searches have been intensified in areas including their homes. Police are also investigating who helped them. It is clear that the machine guns they used for the attack were manufactured in illegal weapons factories in Palestine. These guns are known as Carlo.
Police have arrested a man who is believed to have driven them to the scene of the incident. Prime Minister Netanyahu praised the security officer who killed the terrorists. At the same time, Hamas praised the terrorist attack. However, it did not claim responsibility for the incident. Prime Minister Netanyahu later called a high-level meeting to assess the situation. The European Union strongly condemned the incident. However, the US administration has not yet responded to the incident.
Prime minister modi “Strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Jerusalem today. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured. India condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and stands firm in its policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism”.
