Patna: NDA leaders of Bihar on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party after its Kerala unit shared a controversial post, targeting the recent Goods and Service Tax [GST] reforms announced by the Union Government.

The Kerala unit of the Congress party shared a controversial post on X which said, “Bidis and Bihar start with B. Cannot be considered a sin anymore”. The post was later deleted after it sparked a major political row, attracting sharp response from the NDA leaders of Bihar.

Launching an attack on Congress party, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that people of Bihar will teach a lesson to everyone who has the intention to hurt Bihar and its self-respect.

“Congress leaders across the country and all RJD leaders in Bihar take a pleasure in insulting Biharis. They take pride in humiliating Biharis and Bihari pride. People of Bihar will teach lesson to all such people who hurt Biharis and their self-respect…What will they (Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav) say (about this), it is they who make them say all this,” Rai said.

JDU leader and Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary also trained guns on Congress party over the controversial post.

“The Congress party have a feeling of hatred towards the public of Bihar…Just because GST has been reduced on Bidis, they are saying B for Bidi and Bihari…Bihar produced Samrat Ashok, Aryabhata, Chanakya…Guru Gobind Singh ji were born in Bihar. They forgot this all,” said Choudhary.

Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary also criticised the Congress over the issue, asserting that following the insult of PM Narendra Modi’s mother, Bihar is now being insulted, which shows the “true character of the Congress party.

pic.twitter.com/VvliP16tTJ

The ‘X’ post from the Kerala unit of Congress arrived after the Union Government announcement of new GST reforms where while the tax rates on cigar and cigarettes were increased to 40 per cent, rates on Bidis were brought down from 28 to 18 per cent.

NDA on September 4 observed a five-hours statewide Bandh in Bihar over the alleged abusive remarks made by workers of Congress party against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga.
