New Delhi: The Election Commission of India [ECI] on August 25 said that it has received documents of 99.11 per cent of electors during the ongoing ‘Claims, Objections and Documents’ period of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in the state.
The poll body in an official statement released on Monday evening said that “Documents of 99.11 per cent of 7.24 crore electors [as per draft list published on August 1, 2025] have already been received.”
The ECI statement added that 7 more days are still left to submit claims, objections and documents for inclusion or exclusion from the draft voter list.
The Commission in another release have earlier noted that the exercise to collect their documents with the help of BLOs and volunteers is going on.
“Just like the collection of Enumeration forms, work related to the collection of documents is also likely to be completed before time,” the ECI has stated.

The poll body has further informed “In line with the orders of SIR dated June 24, verification of documents is also being done concurrently by the concerned 243 EROs and 2,976 AEROs.”
“Out of 7.24 crore electors in the draft rolls, 0.16 per cent of Claims and Objections have been received so far. Ten from the BLAs of 12 Recognised Political Parties in Bihar, NIL by persons who are not Electors of that Assembly Constituency and 1,21,143 by Electors within their Assembly Constituency,” added the release issued by the ECI.
The ECI has informed that a total of “3,28,847 new electors who have attained the age of 18 years and above on July 1 or will attain the age of 18 years and above on October 1 have submitted their Form 6 and Declaration.”
The poll panel will publish the Final Electoral Rolls after decision on all the claims and objections received, and verification of eligibility documents by the concerned EROs/AEROs.
The ECI has informed that the SIR process is on time and the EROs/AEROs will complete the verification process by September 25.
ECI’s extensive structured interaction with Political Parties continues
Meanwhile the poll panel in a separate statement informed that during the past six months it has addressed the long-felt need for constructive discussions with the national and state political parties across all levels, by having several rounds of meetings with the representatives of all recognised Political Parties in a structured manner.
“These meetings were envisaged by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Shri Gyanesh Kumar in the presence of Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi at the Conference of Chief Election Officers (CEOs) held in March, 2025. Accordingly, 4,719 structured meetings with all political were conducted comprising of 40 meetings by CEOs, 800 by DEOs, and 3,879 by EROs engaging over 28,000 representatives of various political parties,” said the ECI.
It further noted that the heads of all 6 recognized national parties were invited and the Commission has already held meetings with the party heads/ authorized representatives of 5 national parties in May 2025.
“These meetings provide a platform for party heads to share their suggestions and concerns directly with the Commission. These meetings are in addition to the meetings of ECI with other delegations of political parties on their request,” it said.

The Commission has also interacted with 17 recognised state political parties during the months of July and August 2025 while the process of meeting with the remaining political parties is underway.
The poll body noted that these proactive meetings are a new initiative by the Commission and a departure from the earlier mode of interaction with political parties which were prompted solely by the representation from political parties.
It underscored that the initiative aligns with the Commission’s broader vision of further strengthening the electoral process in accordance with the existing legal framework with all stake holders.
