Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed the vision of the government to launch the first-ever Made-in-India semiconductor chip by the end of this year. While speaking at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2025 on August 24th, Prime Minister Modi exclaimed that India missed the previous opportunity to enter into the global semiconductor market. However, PM Modi said that decades later, India will not commit the same strategic mistake and announced that the country’s first-ever domestically manufactured semiconductor chip will enter the market by the end of the year, as more and more semiconductor industries and assembly units are being established in India.

“We all know that semiconductor manufacturing could have started in India 50–60 years ago, but India missed that too, and the same thing continued for many years to come. Today we have changed this situation. Semiconductor-related factories have started coming up in India,” said Prime Minister Modi.

India  to export EVs to 100 countries

While speaking at the Forum, Prime Minister also revealed a big visionary policy regarding the aim of exporting Electric Vehicles(EVs) to 100 countries. However, PM Modi didn’t unveil many details on this policy and said that, with the goal of realizing this vision a stellar programme is being held on August 26th, Tuesday.

“I want to tell you about another achievement of India. India is now going to export electric vehicles to 100 countries of the world. A very big program related to this is also being held after two days on 26th August,” reiterated Prime Minister Modi.

Prime Minister also said that the government is pushing ahead swiftly to develop an indigenous 6G network. “We are working rapidly on Made in India 6G”, said PM Modi while speaking on the need to keep pace and align with the global advancements in science and technology.

Government also intends to revolutionize India as a global manufacturing hub with respect to critical and novel technologies, thereby boosting domestic capabilities will yield a stature in the global technology market either with respect to EVs or semiconductors or any other state-of-the-art technology.

In this direction, Prime Minister reiterated the mantra of the government as “Reform, Perform, Transform”. “We are not the people who sit on the banks of stagnant water and throw pebbles. We are the people who can turn the fast flowing stream”, said PM Modi while speaking about the vision, capabilities, leadership qualities of India in the 21st century.
